Hi Kathy,
I had ankle fusion last January 2017, I was lucky that I didn't need a bone graft. Well be prepared to be non weight bearing for at least 6 weeks, I hired a wheelchair so that I could get around my house. Then it is a slow process of learning to walk again, weight bearing, wearing a moon boot, physio etc. I still have swelling, and some pain now and then. I must admit I am doing really well, still can walk up stair easily, and other things. But getting better.
