I'm having incontinence and pain in right abdomen

A few months ago I started to pee more frequently at night and during the day. When I need to pee I don't feel pressure until right up to when I'm about to pee myself and I don't pee much when I do go because I have to strain just to go. M I went to the gynecologist and they tested me for STDs and a uti but found nothing. I can pee during the day up to 60 times and now at night it's gotten up to 40. I do not drink any caffeine only water. I've tried decreasing my water intake to see if that was the cause but it made no change. I've also made sure it wasn't stress or diet and saw no change. I have also tried incontinence medication to no avail. There has been blood in my urine and my pee is always clear unless there is blood. I also get major pain in my right side abdomen. I'm only 19 years old so I have no idea what could be causing my issues. Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Hello! Sorry you're experiencing such aggravating and difficult issues, but don't give up hope that you'll feel better. I'd suggest seeing a urogynecologist or urologist, and get thoroughly checked. They could do a cystoscopy, ultrasound and more in-depth urine cultures to see what's going on. A chronic condition called interstitial cystitis (IC) or bladder pain syndrome is also possible (I was diagnosed with this in 2017 after sudden onset of urinary urgency and frequency). You might find some relief by following the IC diet (you can find it online) which helps an irritated bladder even if you don't have IC. An over the counter bladder pain reliever like Azo or Uristat can help too. Bladder training or timed voiding might help you increase your bladder capacity and decrease your bathroom trips. This process can be hard at first but start out with small intervals like every 15 minutes or so and gradually increase the time between urinating. I hope this helps and you feel better soon🙂

I went through periods with similar frequency, for me it happened due the fear of full bladder, urgency and consequent accidents, so to prevent that I went to the bathroom more frequently and just this made my bladder weaker and weaker (and it's already weak by itself). It's like a vicious-circle, more bathroom trips, more weak bladder, more instinct to go to the bathroom... you need to find the right healthy balance. From what you wrote it seems a situation going worse and worse with time, maybe you need to retrain your bladder, only you can say if that is just what is happening, and of course an urologist (taking an appointment is the best thing you can do). As Amanda has written, try to increase your bladder capacity, strength, flexibility, in increasing steps. Maybe it's not your case but if you are afraid of accidents and it gives you big anxiety (that increase bathroom trips too) you can wear a good protection with surely enough absorbency to prevent any public embarrassment and to give you peace of mind to do that. Other factors affecting my pee urgency are cold, physical activities, anxiety, in addiction to how much and what I drink.
