I’m in my 7 th week following a pkr. My leg hurts under, above and below my knee.

I’ve been told by my surgeon that it’s normal for my tendons and ligaments to hurt because they are rubbing up against bone that was scraped after bone was traumatically chiseled out during surgery. Should my knee be swollen and in pain so many weeks after my surgery. It didn’t hurt to walk after my 2nd week but 5weeks later I’m in pain with every step I take .

I'm also at 7 weeks. I'm learning that we can't compare our healing process with others. although we sure want to. My PT told me if I concentrate on just one faction. my bending degrees, I'm setting myself up for emotional failure. He is so right. I am still swollen. As others are saying, your body heals in time, we must be patience. I find lot's of ice helps the pain and swelling...

Ice at least 7 times a day while knee is elevated. Two days of this reduced my swelling dramatically. I keep ice packs in a cooler to also ice in the night. I wasn't sleeping and was told to take extra hydrocodone at bedtime. Now sleeping solid 6 hours. Sleeping is wonderful. 1st tkr 8 years ago. 2nd 3 weeks ago. Recovery seems to be harder this time.

I had my TKR about 4 years ago and then had 3 biological infections and more surgeries. One thing that I have noticed lately is the doctors are now under prescibing the opiod drugs. Unless you have a 10-325 prescription I doubt that you'll get out of pain. If you have been given the 5-325 dose, I would talk to your doctor for the strong med. My best friend just had hand surgery and he was given the 5-325 Norco and it didn't touch his pain, so, he took 2 and he found relief.

HI Somny
Had right PKR almost two years ago now ( time flew by ).
I had pain on the opposite side of operated knee for probably a good 2 months . Because of that pain I had to use one crutch to take some of the weight off the knee. Then one day it was just gone😂.
I went back to work at 4 weeks . It was very challenging for months . All I can say is you must ice as often as you can AND elevate the knee and REST as much as you can . Also drinking lots of water and eating healthy . All those things are so important and crucial to the healing process . Exercises are important yes , but I was cautious to NOT over do it early on to the point where it would swell up more .
You are on the right track . Try to be patient it is still early in your recovery .
I am soooo happy I did this and you too will one day look back and it will be a distant memory . Just keep on keeping on one day at a time!

I am at 7 weeks post op and it seems to be getting worse, more swelling, severe pain, no sleeping at night. The Dr felt I was exercising too much between therapy and at home so he told me just to do stretching exercises on my off days. I'm seriously thinking about quitting or and doing it on my own every time I go to therapy i have severe pain for days. Is anyone still on their walker at 7 weeks? And severe pain?

I'm 7 weeks post op. I have a huge amount of swelling. but walking well...no cane etc
physical therapy is a killer. but you have to do it. I went from 105 to 123 in one week!!! I'm thrilled about that!!

Somny you don't really say if you are elevating the knee and icing and exercising it. If not exercising it scar tissue can develop and that can be an issue, that's why you are usually walking the next day. Ice is your best friend and with exercise the swelling should go down. But, let say that you continue on this pathway of not getting better, I would go to another doctor in that field for a second opinion. Doctors do make mistakes and if they don't put in the right size when doing the surgery, you can have a lot of pain forever
