I'm looking for some info

Hi, I have a few questions. I have been told I may have Fibro and my GP is treating me as such until I see the rheumatologist. At present I am off my work as a lot of my work is at a computer now. The pain at present with the tabs I am on has settled to bearable. I can do certain things but not things that involve rubbing pushing pulling or anything that requires the muscles to work hard or for a while.

i am wondering if I am going to be able to drive again. The last time I drove ai ended up in agony for the next 3 days, I also hoovered that day too 😔 I only use the G Tech carpet sweeper now, my son uses the Hoover for me.

I want to get back to work and I have a drive of 27 miles to get there.

thanks in advance

My partner does all the housework because as you things like hovering mean I suffer for days after doing it.  I sometimes manage. Bit of dusting but can't any big effort into it so most I usually do is general tidying and light cooking.  As for driving I can drive short distances but my car is a Fiat Panda with extra power steering I call it my girly button.  It's meant for parking and such but I need it switch on all the time or the wheel feels to hard to turn. welcome to the fibro club.  you probably don't want to be here but at least you have a lot of friends.  wink  have you heard of the 'spoon theory' yet?  you might want to google the original post but the gist of it is we only have a set of amount of spoons or energy each day and each activity takes up so many spoons.  some days we run out earlier than others. as you get better at juggling your symptoms you'll figure out how many spoons you need for certain things and can plan your days ahead a little.

just FYI, i'm in the US and rheumatologists DO treat fibro.  maybe some don't but mine certainly does.  she has told patients that if they don't take the suggested meds, do the exercises and make lifestyle changes she will drop them from her practice.

    hi Minnie57

i am in a very similar situation to you. I am in early stages of diagnosis and waiting for test results. I also drive about 30 - 48 miles to work, depending what day and what campus I am on, and I just can't do it!

I am a lecturer but with the pain and fog, I just can't do it now, so I am off sick, and have been for over a month.

I have found that I can just about drive to the Dr or to town, but that is only 5 -10 mins in the car. That is my limit at the moment.

I miss my work, but I am realistic enough to know I just can't do it at the moment, and therefore. I am not beating myself up about it! On my good days I do what I can, on my bad days I don't.

I am not sure if this has helped at all?? Thinking of you!

yes I live in west Wales, living in a rural location means I rely on my car! My husband is disabled and doesn't drive any longer!

I understand exactly what you mean about staying positive - I really try, I don't want to be a moaner, but some days it's tough. At least on this site you can say it as it is because people understand.

Enjoy today if you can, it's raining here but I am going to try and relax, I am having a bit of a flare today! Gentle hugs to you.
