Hi everyone, I was wondering if there was anyone in their 30's having or has had a THR recently?

    Hi Laura,

I was 30 when I had my first, unfortunately things didn't quite go to plan and within 5yrs I also had two revisions. Now at 37, my 3rd hip will be two at the end of March - the longest lasting one yet 😊

Sounds very unfortunate! Wow your 3rd too, happy birthday hip for the end of March!

There are several and one (that I know of) person in her 20s.

This is no longer an older person's surgery - such is the advance in science biggrin

Hi Laura, I am 53 but had a fellow hippy friend in hospital who is 31. She had about 6 procedures before THR to try and preserve her own hips. We had the same surgeon and he works on the theory that if we look after our new hips then in 20 years time things will have moved on again. Better to have quality of life now than facing one in a wheelchair.

No could be another 4 to 6 weeks. And if they have to reorder specialist equipment for my op it could be longer x

      Hi Laura,

I think that's why I thought it would be a good idea to sign up on here, to get to know other people's experience. I am 30 and having my first thr a week on Monday! In a way I am looking forward to it, but more afterwards if that makes sense!

I was born with dislocated hips but unfortunately wasn't operated on until I was about 18 months old. So now nearly 30 years on with a little bit of arthritis in my right hip and after having a baby it turns out I need a new one!
