I'm now off medication for TN. Still have minor pain.

I was on 75mg of Lyrica but started having side effects so reduced gradually to 25mg then came off them. I noticed I no longer have slowness in reaction and my recall is back to normal for my age. After reading up on Lyrica I decided to steer clear of it.

Im still in minor pain, which feels like a group of toothache, or teeth ache, but that doesn't sound right lol. I just take Paracetomol, which takes the edge off sometimes. I just hope the TN will peter out eventually. In the meantime I'm coping.

Ive decided to check up on herbal remedies, who knows there maybe something out there. But presently I'm taking my daily cod liver oil capsules with vitamin A&D.

Has anyone else tried alternative remedies which has helped their TN?

Yes Gloriana. Acupuncture worked with me after 10 sessions and in remission now for 7 months. I am on all the anti- inflammatories...fish ,krill, cod liver and flaxseed oils . Of course a good multi- vitamin and B group.Alpha lipoic acid..you were well off away from Lyrica..really bad news best wishes.

Do you know if cod liver oil can still be taken if you are trying for a baby/pregnant?

I will have a look into it first before i try the cod liver oil. smile im on folic acid already and they recommend that for pregnancy and tn so that is fine. Was the acupuncture painful? What cost was it?

Hi Katie.first up let me wish you the best for an eventual pregnancy.I am in Australia and acupuncture is free for me,being a senior .It is not as expensive as seeing  doc.Make sure you find an acupuncturist clinic, not some doc who thinks he'll have a go.They have no idea. Taiwanese and Chinese usually are the best, tho in my clinic there are also Indian and European. If it's crowded you will know they are good. No,acupuncture is not painful. My nose was so painful But no pain from acupuncture. It was better than winning lotto when the pain stopped. Let us know how you get on. Best wishes
