    Hi Bernadette,

Obviously, the tablets you were prescribed are not working, therefore I would suggest you get a second opinion from another doctor at your surgery. Ask if they can refer you for a second specialist because you are not sure that the medication is not working.

We have more indepth details on here about POCS

      Hi Les,

Thanks for your reply I appreciate it was gynecologist who said that to me and prescribed the tablets but they also said because I'm so young their is nothing really they can do I was 13 when I found out about my pcos and waited around a year for the gynecologist which was fine but for them to turn round and say that I was like I waited around a year for just be given some tablets when I could have gone to a doctor to save that waiting time but what I don't get is my doctor referred me to the gynecologist and for them just to do that is confusing me basic lack of help in the gynecologist area

You're welcome... being young is a basic 'obstacle' in some cases, I found that out with my youngest daughter. How well do you get on with your parents? Perhaps taking your mother along with you, would make you feel better and able to explain in more detail would help you. I know some girls do get embarrassed, but they normally confide in their mothers, rather than their fathers - our daughter is actually slightly older than you, yet she still asks for me to go with her, obviously she goes in to another room, if she needs to be examined.

You should get a better response now you are 15, if a receptionist do you want to see your own doctor, you can always choose another, if you prefer - some people do prefer other doctors rather than there own. Ask if you can be re-examined by another gynecologist, because the problem has not cleared up since you first brough it to their attention.

      Hope that helps.

      Les.
