I'm out of ideas!!! any advice??

I am at the end of my tether at the moment! I am 27 and have had hay fever for 20 years now. I've tried pretty much everything on the market including the kenelog injection when I had to take tablets, nose spray and eye drops too and still had symptoms. I then looked like elephant woman with a swollen face and was prescribed ketotifen. This helped for a couple of years but now I seem to be immune to its effects (except the drowsy moody ones!) Although I'm not nearly as bocked up as I used to be I get \"face ache\" all the time - it wakes me up at 4am along with itchy mouth. I've changed my diet so no dairy / wheat/ yeast or sugar but I'm still feeling pants. I'm a teacher so have to go outside but its getting me down at work too - does anyone have a miracle cure that doesn't involve staying in for the whole of summer!!! - am desperate! Thanks in advance

ps I'm getting married in august and really don't want to be feeling rubbish!

    Hi Jo

Have you tried locally made honey? It has to be local though something to do with the bees and pollens in your area!

Also when you have to go outside try dabbing a little vaseline around your nostrils - okay not just to give the kids a laugh  but it will help stop pollens passing into your nose. Eyes - sunglasses! Splash them with cool water when you go back inside and of course some optrex!

Both my daughters and myself suffer hayfever but we all need different tablets for them to be effective. I am okay on benydryl, one daughter has piriton and the other has something called cimitizine? Spelt completely wrong lol.

Years ago I had a streoid nasal spray - I can't remember the name of it but remember it came in a light brown bottle.

    Good luck

    Thanks Melbi

I have tried quite a few of those things but I'll try them all again at same time and hopefully children won't be gigling at me!!! lol

    Hi,

I have been suffering for 40+ years and for the last 10 have managed to contain it for most of the time.

The tablet that holds it back for most of the time is https://patient.info/showdoc/30003785/. You HAVe to take it every day as its function accumulates. Now and again I get 'break through' ... my cure is to cool my airways by drinking a pint of milk from a cold glass pint bottle (in a glass of course!) ... and I mean drink all of it. The cold and the texture make everything cold .... it seems to put the histamine brakes on.

The other is to shower in the morning and shower at night and never wear anything you wore the day before .. the pollen gets in your hair and clothes.

Recently I saw in a pharmacy \"phototherapy technology\" http://www.enjoymoresummer.com/Pages/Page.aspx?PageName=LloydsAllergyReliefSpecialOffersNasalReliever... nevr tried it but at the price they seem to be selling this may be worth a try ...

I do have an ionising air purifier in the bed room too .. seems to work, gives me a chance of waking without sneezing ..

One word of warning, I am also allergic to brick dust and stayed in a new hotel in Vegas recently. The pharmacy suggested taking Benedryl as well as Clarityn ... I could not stay awake, but had to work so I drank a can of RedBull ... not recommended, I had pins and needles all over for at least 20mins.
