I'm scared to sleep because I think I'll die

I'm afraid to go to sleep whenever I feel tired as I'm scared I'll never wake up and won't see my family again, etc.
I suffer with Anxiety/Depression and I'm frightened of the words Death, Dead, Dying, Die, Died, etc and I see them being brought up everyday either in a conversation in a TV show, movie, videogame or see the word a lot on the internet, news paper etc and I think it's foreshadowing.

If needed go to a group therapy , there are some free ones.
Take it one day at a time. Have faith it will get better!

Thank you, I just have this strange feeling like it's going to happen whilst I'm asleep, in fact I have to keep checking up on my parents to see if they're still alive whilst sleeping.
My problem came about due to losing our dog last year, you see I had this strange, funny feeling (jokingly) that our dog won't be here when we have our new furniture delivered and carpets fitted (our dog sometimes made a mess in the passage and so my parents ordered a new carpet for the passage, stairs and landing due to the visible stains on the passage carpet) and a month before we got them she became ill and got worse and we had no choice but to have her put down (it was the best thing for her in the end) and so the funny feeling I had came true and I blame myself for it.
The thing is though it didn't really bother me that much and I wasn't really worried about myself but for other people like my mum and dad and I didn't start to feel like this until last October and I've been scared to sleep on and off ever since.
The Doctors, etc have put it down to anxiety and I've had ECG's, a 24 hour heart monitor, blood tests and an ultra sound and I have a fatty liver and my Vitamin D is low to moderate which I'm treating by taking tablets.
My medication has been changed after I was on Citalpram about 11-12 years and the doctor said my body/Braun has gotten used to them and so I've been on other tablets ever since and I'm not the same.

So sorry your feeling this way Craig I suffer from health anxiety so I know little abit how your feeling although never had the fear of going to sleep in fact was only time a get or got peace... if you are perfectly healthy then always keep that in mind when you have these thoughts and a know it's difficult as lady above says maby try watching lots of positive videos and only let positive in until you get better... don't watch the news or read anything that you know will trigger your anxiety... I have faith and it's one thing that I am always comforted in not sure if you are believer or not but just know God loves you and nothing bad is gonna happen give it to him and watch it melt away... I get great peace just talking with God... hope you feel better... try your best to keep your mind buzy only on good things... until you are stronger...

This is all in your head and it's anxiety triggering the flight or fight response and that's one of our Natural Instincts and we think the worst of all so try Consulting it with your doctor you're not going to die you're okay just try to control it and try doing group therapy or one-on-one with a therapist

Craig, that is your anxiety taking over. Causing fear and negative thinking. Remember something, any symptoms related to anxiety can never hurt you!
The future is not here yet it actually doesn't even exist yet. So none of what you see on TV about death has anything to do with you. I would strongly advise to limit TV watching or stop watching it all together at least until you get a handle on this.
please don't do what I did which was wasted 20 years of my life with worry, fear, negative thinking. Always thinking something bad was going to happen and never did. I could've been enjoying those years! What a waste!
chances are you are a young man with a very healthy body. There is no way you would die in your sleep!
I highly recommend you listening to some meditations on YouTube for sleep. They completely calm you down in a great to listen to when trying to fall asleep. Sometimes I never make it through them because I fall sleep before it's over. There are also great meditations on YouTube for anxiety, depression etc.
One I think would really benefit you is called "clearing subconscious negativity". Check them out!
