I'm scheduled to have a hysterectomy for fibroids(after having uterine embollization done 1 1/2 years ago, unsuccessfully)and am trying to decide whether or not to have my cervix removed as well. I am tempted to have a partial done, but am afraid I'll be part of that 5% of woman who experience light bleeding every month. That is something I definitely don't want.

I FEEL, ATER HAVING HAD HYTERECTOMY MYSELF, AT THE AGE OF 31 ( NOW 52) THAT IF YOU ARE HAVING TO HAVE THE OPERATION, THEN GO FOR IT ALL, FIRST AS LAST. WISHING YOU WELL.:ok:

I had my hysterectomy 8 weeks ago and opted on the advice of my surgeon to have my cervix removed. I'm only 43 and definately did not want to be one of the 5% to experience bleeding again. I would go for it but if you are unsure talk it through with your surgeon mine was very happy to discuss all my options. Just to say I'm recovering really well and should be back at work soon. Good luck:

Im 52 and had all removed and I feel great! Now I dont have to worry about cancers and cysts or anything really. I had a laperscopic total hysterectomy. Cervix, ovaries, fallopian tube and uterus gone. Had 3 vaginal cuff stitches and healed up quickly. Walked alot and stretched in bed.  Wish it was done when I was 47 when all the symptons came on..Embolization dosent usually work thats why I didnt want it. I am now worry free. Im 5ft 8 inches and was 190 pounds pre op. Im now 178 pounds 2 months post op. I hope the weight keeps dropping..not sure if this helps you at all but it might give you idea what someone else has gone thru. I am in menopause now because of the surgery so I do not bleed at all.
