I'm so upset and feel let down with my treatment

Hi, I've recently posted about early menopause at 40 and my last few years of hormone hell (all the symptoms of anxiety, hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, crying, racing heart, etc) and I was so excited to finally be validated with hormone tests that showed my estrogen levels to be extremely low and near post menopausal range. My periods have been erratic and light and the last few months they have disappeared. The hormone place I went to (i've been going there a year and only taken progesterone which has only helped a little) reluctantly gave me a small amount of estrogen. I'm talking less than over the counter. They said they rarely do because I'm not without periods for a year.
I tried to explain how miserable I've been and how I think I've had low estrogen symptoms a very long time, even since my last child. I know I don't feel like my youthful, vibrant self despite eating organic and living a healthy lifestyle. I mean, not sleeping more than 2-3 hours a night, emotional, achy, dried out. Then she said this: its not a cure all, you could have arthritis or a sleep disorder. I almost hung up the phone in disgust. I KNOW my body and I KNOW this is a lack of hormones. I've been to many drs and naturopaths and nothing shows up but low hormones. I've been to the ER for panic attacks and lack of sleep and everything else out there is a cover-up of symptoms.
Is it too much to ask for an actual estrogen treatment?? When an actual hormone place lets you down too, its a low point. I'm not going to give up and stop fighting for what I need. Women should be listened to. We know our bodies. I've grown 5 babies inside me, and I know what up and down hormones feel like and what normal feels like.
Thanks for the rant, I am going to find another dr.

Hi there, I really sympathise, I am currently trying to see about HRT with my GP and at first I thought it was a question of reading a leaflet about it, then he said he wanted me to go for blood tests to see if anything else wrong which I suppose is fair enough but that took four weeks, three to get an appointment for my bloods and then anotehr week before the results came in and I could see doc again, obviously I pre booked so that the delays wouldn't be even longer, I already have vaginal atrophy so he's aware my hormones are low as thats an indicator, and I'm just wondering how far the goal posts are going to move or change when he said at first it was just a question of reading a leaflet and coming back, like you I am aware I am low in oestrogen and have been for several years. I honestly wish you all the best and do update as and when as would be interested to hear how you get on with a different GP. Best wishes, Fiona

I feel your pain. I was put on to evoril conti patches this week from fermiston conti tablets and I had to ring the doctor this morning as I didn't know what to do I felt so poorly. I was dizzy nauseus crying for no reason terrified of nothing and altogether bad. My blood pressure was 195/83. I am of the belief that it is the progesterone that causes these symptoms and of course lack of oestrogen. My doctor says I must go back on Fermiston conti and when I stabilise she is going to boost me with extra oestrogen maybe twice a week. I will keep you posted. I can't even bring myself to get dressed and washed and face the world at the moment.

Thank you joanne, its reasurring to hear from another early meno lady! I will remember to refer to you as I know it is a bit of trial and error. I was able to get prescribed some Estrace this afternoon. She was amazing and so validating. She said my estrogen levels on my labs were really low (My total estrogen was 17) and that they prescribed me a baby dose. So we are trying Estrace cream at a moderate dose! At least I'm starting with something that will bring my levels up!
