I'm so worried right now. Anxiety keeping me awake.

Today I had some red tacos which is shredded tender beef with cheese and I chewed on a huge piece of beef that was soft, but also a bit in a large chunk, it slid down my throat when it wasn't fully chewed yet and I'm worried now if I might end up choking since I feel the sensation of it, but nothing bad has happened to me yet. I can still eat and drink without choking on anything else. Should I be okay? I'm not sure if it's my anxiety stressing me out thinking something bad might happen to me. But I experience a same situation like this before and didn't need to go to the ER since I was doing just fine.

if the beef slid down your throat and you can eat and drink now then you are not choking and you will not choke. What is happening is that fear takes over and negative thoughts and those are not based on reality. Just go by the facts .
you can eat . food does not just sit in the throat. our body is made to automatically swallow it. So please relax and enjoy your food! don’t overthink this. take care

Hi Marissa, I went through this before with any food I eat, it feels like it's stuck in my windpipe, but nothing has happened throughout the entire day. It's definitely your anxiety playing tricks on you, and anxiety can cause you to have a lump in throat feeling, or you feel like a piece of food is stuck when it's not. As scary as it sounds, you will be okay. Just relax and eventually the sensation will go away. Since the beef was tender, then it most likely will be soft on the throat and dissolve on it's own. Most soft foods are easy to chew and swallow.
