I'm super down over my diverticulitis...

Today I can tell I'm definitely in a flare-up, it's only been a couple of months since the last round. I will start a clear liquid diet today, but its so hard to do. I don't weigh a ton anyway and 3-4 days will definitely dump some pounds again. I am sure it is probably time to talk serious with my Gi doctor but I have no insurance and I'm scared. Seems all the information I've received is so contradictory. Everyone says listen to your body but I don't know what it's saying. Any advice would help. I'm 46, and just want to live pain and worry free.
