I'm worried I'll have a heart attack

Hello. So I'm 16 years old and recently my heart has been feeling weird. sometimes it starts beating fast with no reason, and other times it feels like it stops beating and I have to take deep breaths. I'm worried because of what happened to me yesterday: I went to the grocery store on my bike and I was pedalling very fast; when I arrived and walked in I almost fainted, I was taking deep breaths and I felt like my heart was going to explode and it hurt a lot. Also, I used to drink lots of redbull to stay awake in class and today I'm going to pass an exam that lasts 4h so I bought a 50cl can of monster. is it okay to drink? should I check if I have heart problems?

Hi Lili, please stop taking these drinks, they do too much harm to the heart.  I had been taking lots of red bull regularly during school days too, but when i stopped later, I experienced shaking and trembling. There is too much caffeine in those drinks and are poison to the heart. Cut off completely and you will see you wont get heart palpitations anymore. You might experience mild withdrawal effect though.

Best of luck for your exams

Yes Lilli, do not take excess caffeine as found in many energy drinks as well as in coffee and even in tea. Yes you may well get withdrawal symptoms as rachna36991 says but go through these and then only take very moderate amounts in future. If you arent back to 'normal' in a few days then get checked out via your GP.

    Hiya,

Defo cut out the energy drinks, terrible for the heart!! I suffer from something called SVT which is when your heart suddenly races and can cause you to feel faint and dizzy when it happens. Definitely see a doctor, as excessive intake of energy drinks can be a cause of SVT. It's not a serious condition but it has to be delt with!
