I need advice. Stop or continue?

I started taking sertraline about 9 days ago for depression and anxiety. I started with 25mg (half a pill), went to 50mg and back on 25 now. Ive been suffering from the side effects. Nausea, fatigue (constant yawning), sleep disturbance, and weakness are of the major symptoms. I'm lost and confused. Do I continue? Will the side effects go away? I really hate these feelings ☹

To see the benefits of Zoloft, you'll have to make it through at least a couple more weeks. Side effects do subside for most people. The initial phase is rough for many of us, unfortunately. Substantial improvements for me happened around the six to seven week mark.

Hi Zee. Yes the side effects will go away but you need to stay on a consistent dose, if you felt that 50 was too high for you it is ok to go back down to 25, stay there for at least another 2 weeks and then see how things are, if you feel you need more after that time and the side effects have eased then take yourself up slowly, trying 37.5 for a couple of weeks then go to 50. As horrendous as the side effects can be take some positive from it, look upon it as the meds trying to work their magic and correcting what is wrong. It is hard I know when all you want to be is "normal" but hang on in there you can do it and you will be ok

this is super normal. Im dealing with the same side effects. I began at 12.5mg and gradually increased to 25mg. I had no side effects until I was 1 week into the 25mg dose. Since then, Ive had the nausea and yawning too, and also sweating at night. Im into week 4 now. Im going to make a decision at week 7. Honestly Im not sure if Im just not taking enough or if this is just not the right med for me. I found that when I took my pill in the morning/midday it would make me a little too groggy. But if I took it at 10pm (bedtime) I would wake up really nauseous and almost achy like I had the flu. So now Im trying 5/6pm. I find that by the time it's beginning to make me groggy Im already getting ready for bed, and I am sleeping thru the worst of the nausea. I chose this time because I notice that the nausea completely subsides about 18 hours after I have taken the pill - and I dont feel anything in the first 2-3 hours after I take it. So, 3-9pm is my window when I feel my best at this point. I still have morning nausea (reminds me of light morning sickness), but I find that if push thru (take a shower, eat some saltines and a crystalized ginger candy) Im ok. Going to morning yoga helps a lot too. I dont think we can know for sure until weve been on it for 6 weeks.
