I need advice with stomach problems. Very tired with nowhere to turn.

Hello, I hope you are all keeping well. I am suffering with severe burping, reflux, intolerances to various foods. I am kept awake most nights and done for years. I constantly wake during the night and lay awake gulping gaviscone. I was disgnossed some years ago with severe anemia. Whenever I take the liquid for my anaemia it makes me very unwell. I would feel sick, need the toilet and have very bad stomach problems. I revisited the doctors many times regarding this but never got anywhere. In the end the repercussions of taking my anemia medication made me stop taking it which ultimately also made me unwell.

I have never smoked, drank or taken drugs apart from cocodamol which is prescribed to me for fibromyalgia. I have lost a lot of weight as instructed by doctors; I have taken the medicine given to me by doctors (nexium, which pharmacist says I can dissolve. I have a phobia of swallowing tablets). I have become vegan and I also kept food diaries etc as instructed by doctors. I have paid for equipment to raise my bed at nights but all of this does not help. For all these years I have worked 6 day weeks and have found it very difficult trying to function on so little sleep. It is also very embarrassing for me and awkward in work and socialising because my stomach makes very audible growling/grumbling noises and I get flatulence. In the end I have stopped socialising and take work a day at a time.

Last year I had an endoscopy and although the specialist at the time was very helpful he said the small hernia that he could see (I have had this long time) was not the culprit and it was so small it did not require an operation. He did comment however that he thought I had problems absorbing food etc. I was then referred to the hospital.

On my visit to hospital last week I went over my problems with the specialist. Long story short, she told me all my problems were psychological. When I eat the food etc and have bad reactions that is just psychological. Reflux, burping, Being kept awake at nights is psychological. As I thought this was my last chance of getting matters resolved I left very disappointed.

Mebeverine in liquid form helped some years ago but now the hospital and doctors both tell me that I cannot have mabeverine in liquid form as mabeverine has never came in a liquid form. Im at my wits end and have told my doctors that I have had the liquid form before but they tell me this cannot be. When asked both hospital and doctors have told me there is no food intolerance tests etc available on the nhs. I have told dr's & hospital I feel very depressed and unwell. I am depressed and tired.

Thank you for reading my message.

Thank you so much for the kind words everyone. I know it was commented mabeverine in liquid form is not made anymore. Is that 100%?? The docs havent told me this. They just say its never been in liquid form. Frustrating for me as i know its on my medical file that I was given liquid form some years ago. Is there anyway I can check if its available on nhs?

    Hi ted

Just to let you know I'm a medical practitioner

And i prescribe mebeverin 50mg/5mg suspension

For colicky pain in younger adults also for people who have ibs or admitef with ibs symptoms and who can't take tablets or swallow pills because of other problems so I'm really not happy with your dr telling you this

I would go back and talk to your gp and Also explain what's happening you have a lot of different issues which need to be addressed so they should listen and help sort you sort out your problems
