Hello ladies as many of you know i have been really struggling the past 2 months. Ive been to Ent twice I have a balance test scheduled for Tuesday this week and im a bit nervous as I dont no what to expect. Also a hearing test. And im scheduled for a ct sinus scan on the 8th. A quick back story i went away on a trip driving about 9 hours away from home had a great time. when i got back about 2 days later the balance issue started. Saw my gp said allergies take meds. I also had some wax so sent me to ent. He removed wax said all was good. A month later i was still the same fullness in ear felt like a marble up my nose and the off balance feeling. My health anxiety has been through the roof thinking crazy horrible things. Which is awful. Today i actually left my house for the first time in 2 weeks I was anxious but did it anyway. Things ive noticed is Im much more dizzy in the sun light and in the store. Im not sure whats going on but some words of encouragement and maybe if anyone has anything similar some suggestions

hi Renee , i have the same issues as you with balance and fullness in my ears. Im ok in the sunlight but shops lights cause me to go off balance , give me a headache then i feel nauseas. i had a balance test about seven years ago where i was put on a tilt table for an hour. iv recently attended ENT balance clinic and been diagnoised with vestibular migraine which if you look it up it effects balance. i was put on cinnarizine which helps balance. They did a hearing test and balance exercises, i was told to walk out more looking around and take some vitamins they recommended, all was going good until i thought i should come off the meds then i was back to being dizzy again so im back on them again. hopefully after your balance test you may get some results.

i know exactly what your going through Renee and its horrendous, iv not been shopping for many years and just about manage to get through work each day. do you feel a little dizzy when driving.

    sending you a comforting hug

Thank you! I forgot to mention the day i returned from my trip my period was starting and it was a horrible 9 hour drive. I really do hope they figure this out its all so scary. The health anxiety is the worst and the not knowing. I do not drive but when i am in car its weird im not as dizzy. And im not sure if i said its not vertigo dizzy its more internal if that makes sense like the space around me is normal but im swaying. Im worried about the balance test and wondering if its scare will it make me more dizzy ugh

    Hi Renee,

I hope your balance test provides some clues to the root cause, and some ideas for relief.

I am 51, and was actually having some good months in a row in which I skipped 3 or 4 periods.

Periods came back in early June, and I have had the same symptoms as you since then...

Every day, I have pressure on the entire right side of my head.

The worse the pressure, the more vertigo I have.

The more vertigo I have, the more anxious I get.

I only do the bare minimum shopping in stores, as the lighting and noise trigger me every time. If I stay more than a few minutes, my legs go weak, my world tilts back and forth, and trying to keep it together gives me hot flashes and electric shock symptoms in my ribs. Then nausea. I haven't yet been able to brave whatever happens next... I leave before I find out, whether my business is done or not.

Once I get outside, I start to feel more normal again.

Also, at the same time my period showed up, my migraines flipped from episodic to chronic.

Visited a headache specialist, and he says absolutely possible that hormonal changes can be the trigger for vestibular migraine, and for a change in pattern from episodic to chronic.

On a couple of new meds for that, too early to tell if that's gonna solve it.

Getting lots of rest and staying super-hydrated helps some...

    Praying for you,

    Sara

Thank you Sara it is comforting to at least no Im not alone. Im starting to feel crazy. Between the constant dizziness the fullness in my ear the back and neck pain. Hot flash and palps and now the constant anxiety i am a mess and cant even function. I want to feel like my old self i actually

sobbed the other day to my husband who is very kind and tries his best to be reassuring he keeps saying im sure its the hormones or something similar. I thought i had anxiety before nothing like this!

Hello Renee sorry to hear about your struggles. When i first entered peri at 42 i had terrible balance

issues to the point where i sometimes would have to hold on to something. Sometimes i would find that the floor was giving away under me or uneven. I struggled with that for about a yr then it left. Now 5 yrs later i get it once in awhile mostly around ovulation. I also had clogged ears, anxiety to the point where i didn't leave the house. I feel for you knowing what it feels like. its horrible and frightening. Find comfort knowing that it will pass, like a lot of symptoms. Just take the time to relax and enjoy whatever gives you peace. God bless

I went for my balance test today and FINALLY a diagnoses. I have PPPD. I will need vestibular therapy. And a mental health therapist. My anxiety has been so extreme over the last few months that I have pretty much shut down. Doc said with right treatments I should start to feel better in about 2 months or so. I was so worried that it was going to be horrible the anxiety i have been going through she said is like a vicious circle. Hopefully I can get back to some normalcy what ever that is. Thank you ladies for all your kind words and stories
