I was clinical diagnosed with genital herpes on 01-30. I started taking 1g of valacyclovir every day for 31 days. I stopped the valacyclovir for 32 days and tested negative for hsv 2 at 9 weeks. I was told that i needed to be off valacyclovir for a total of 12 weeks before i could get a accurate test so i stop and tested again at 12 weeks. Results negative igG herpeselect blood test. Could my doctor have been wrong?

Did your doctor see you in blister stage?

Did you test for herpes 1 or 2?

Was it Ig G or Ig M?

He did and he just looked and said that's herpes. I took HerpeSelect igG for genital and oral

For IgG, it can appear after long time to be positive, may be 4 months. So better to check again later.

Ig M appear early after few days and disappear after 2 weeks mostly.

So for you now, no need to test Ig M. But do Ig G 4 months after symptoms.

Anyway, till you are sure. Do sex with condom. And tell your partner that you may have herpes.

      Good luck
