I need encouragement...

I have read many of your comments and feel as though everyone is really supportive.

I have had PMR for about a year and a half. I started on 20 mg of Pred. And tapered down fairly quickly over the past few months. When I started loosing my hair I took myself off of the steroid.

It has been real tough... The other day I could barely walk. I am 56 and feel 90. Is there any other medication that works?

I started on 20 mg now down to 5 and loosing hair too. I am 55 and am trying supplements, blow drying less often to reduce my hair loss.  I have had days when I just wanted to stop taking the prednisone but I remember without them I could barely get out of bed.  On them, I can do all my activities especially hot yoga which has helped me physically and mentally.  Hang in there! I know it is rough I have only been on steroids for 4 months so I imagine I will feel like quiting the prednisone again too.

Hi, Terri - I have been on prednisone since June, and am now at 8mg heading for 7 in a couple of weeks.  I have also lost my hair - so thin, I was seriously thinking about looking for a wig.  However, I have always worn my hair pulled back and somehow, even though it was very thin, you really couldn't notice all that much unless I said something.  It is now growing back to give you a little time frame.  It is still pretty thin, but filling in enough that I am pretty sure in time I will have enough to look fairly decent.  I am 70, and live in the USA.

Hi, I too, lost a LOT of hair. I seen it coming, so ordered a wig, and started wearing it I like it so much, I now have 4, and another coming this week. I don't have to worry about hair issues, an much less $$$ than getting hair fixed. I cannot tell that I have new hair coming. I have not had to shave less, etc since about the first month. I developed moon face shortly into Pred. Also weight gain, couldn't walk all summer, on and on....I started in May @ 20 mg, been up send down, too. I am at 11 now, reducing slow!  I have got back to walking, but weather has turned here in MI, USA, so most now will be treadmill, but, I am gonna do it!  And kayak and hike etc....I hope we can all see some improvement. I am thankful for this forum, and I certainly know "the spoon theory". Hugs and happy , healthy 2016

I don't have the same problem as I 'lost' most of my hair during my 30/40's, but I am male and 75 so it not so important as you ladies! I started on 30 mg 18 months ago and am now on 4.5 mg.

      Best of luck for 2016.

      John
