I need help!

Hello! I am Erika. I've been drinking a lot for the last 6 years. I think it's time to end this but unfortunately I can't stop after one drink. I need some help because I can't do it by myself. so, any advice regarding pills, methods, rehab centers ( Eastern Europe) or anything else will be appreciated. Thank you very much!

Eastern Europe can be a bit tough. I'm going to PM you some links, but you may have to do some footwork to see what's available there. Are you currently using any kind of antidepressant? Some of those can cause some people to crave alcohol and have a hard time stopping, but the very same antidepressant might help someone else drink less, so it's peculiar to the individual and their circumstances.

It seems to mainly be the SSRI antidepressants. If you google:

      rxisk antidepressant craving

you should come across an article about it.

The info for Paroxetine in particular lists "Alcohol Abuse" as a side effect under the "Nervous System" section on page 15 of the package insert on Medlibrary ( dot) org. I don't know that any of the others do, but there are plenty of anecdotal reports of elevated alcohol craving for SSRI's. I don't think this is a very common problem, otherwise by now there would be heads on sticks over this. But it's something to be aware of and to watch out for.

Hi ADE! thank you for your answer. I am not using any kind of antidepressant. why it's tough to find a rehab center in Eastern Europe? There are a lots in UK but they are a little bit expensive ( 10 to 15K / week).

?Has anybody been in a rehab center in Eastern Europe? Any suggestions?

Go to the C Three Foundation website...it has resources and information on The Sinclair Method. I know so many us have our culture and genetics affecting our drinking. It is not easy but you must try.
