I need help HSV2...

I was diagnosed with HSV2 about 4 years ago. I went about a years symptom free but for the past year, I have been dealing with outbreaks on a monthly basis. I am a 29 year old woman, and my period seems to be the trigger for my outbreaks. I take Valtrex 1000mg once a day, Lysine 1000mg once a day, and vitamins to try to prevent/decrease symptoms.

However, every month, a week before my period I'm having outbreaks.

I live in a small town where nobody wants to talk about Herpes even though it's a common thing that 1 in 3 people have. No medical professional can seem to offer any kind of help. I made lifestyle changes and lost 35 lbs in order to try to help, I exercise regularly. I'm just lost on what to do.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I am trying to avoid birth control, my boyfriend and I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years with no luck. I do not want to prevent something that we want so badly.

Are you stressing? Stressing is a trigger for outbreaks as well

I'm a nursing student so there's definitely stress. But I don't feel like it's anymore then usual.

You still get outbreaks after taking all that? That sounds unusual. Try acyclovir? Apparently that works better than lysine. I've heard that probiotic helps too.

Just wondering, does your boyfriend have it? I'm just wondering what are the chances to pass it to somebody else. Mind if I ask how long if you two have been together?

I know, that's what kills me I feel like I've done so much. I'd be fine with once every 3 months or so. But EVERY single month just sucks!

I've never heard of acyclovir I'll have to give that and probiotic a try.

My boyfriend is actually the one that gave me herpes. He's only had two outbreaks the entire time he has had it.

Shortly before we got together he had a blood test done because a partner had told him she had tested positive.

His blood test came back negative and the doctor didn't inform him he needed to be retested.

He then had an outbreak while we were together, got retested  and it came back positive, obviously.

Well then I went to get tested and while I'm waiting for the results I had my first outbreak.

Yeah they say it gets better in time but that's not the case for me. First year, the outbreak was mild. Then this year, which is the second year, I've had 3 outbreaks in 4 months so far. And it's at the anus area. It's even worse than having it around the vagina to be honest.

Actually, did you take any medicine during your outbreak? If you did, then didn't it stop the outbreak?

Just the same daily medications that I already take. My outbreaks are extremely mild. I normally only break out in one spot. It's normally, the outside of my vigina on my pelvic bone but I've had it pop up on the very top of my butt crack and once on the inside my vagina. You're right that is the worse spot. I think the medicine does control it from spreading and shortness the time to about 3-5 days.

      Are you on medication?

Then it's weird that you haven't heard of acyclovir. You should totally try it. Let me know if it's works better. Wow it goes as far as pelvic bone?  Didn't know that. i only take acyclovir when I'm having outbreaks. Few weeks ago I had an outbreak, didn't take acyclovir and I could see the bump turned into an open sore and then a bigger patch of wound. It's not like a cluster of ulcers for me. It's more like a big patch if it ever gets worse. Then 2 weeks after that, I had another bump. It always start to itch really bad at first. Do you get that? I get discharge like it's from the anus as well,  I think that's what made it itch. Anyway, I took acyclovir and also got swabbed because I couldn't believe that it's another outbreak in a month, meantime I also took acyclovir and that bump didn't turn into a wound. Before I've had any outbreaks around my anus, I thought outbreaks aren't that bad...until it got to the anus area.

Oh btw, you said you live in a small town that nobody wants to talk about herpes. It's not just your town. Its the entire planet haha. You are not alone.

I get little clusters of very defined blisters when it's on my pelvic bone. On the inner part it's normally like a small lesion but hurts way more then the other. I get very itchy before it comes up and I get burning in my lower back and thighs.  I haven't ever had it on my anus area only at the very top of my buttcrack. I feel like mine presents in the oddest places compared to most.

Oh I know, gotta love closed minded people🙄

Oh btw, did you contract herpes from your bf when he didn't have symptoms or sore? So what do you think? Do you think it's easy to catch it? Did he take pills or use condoms?

I'm having that same exact probably. It's driving me crazy and causing me to stress. July of this year makes it a whole year and for the last 3 months i have had an OB right before my period. Ik when its coming bc i will this burning tingle sensation right under my butt cheek. I take 3 lysine 1000 and B complex everyday.

I can deal with 2 a yr but this every month thing is killing me.
