I need help trying to cure my phimosis.

I'm going to start by saying I do know about circumcision and for me that is an absolute last resort, I'm desperate to get rid off this because I have had it ever since I was about 8 (I'm 17). I just want to know some stretching exercises and stuff similar. Thanks to those that reply.

If you're only 17, then it will probably fix itself. Gentle stretching works for most people, and you could also try a steroid cream eg betamethasone 0.05%. How far can you retract though, both soft and hard?
It's normal at age eight not to be able to retract at all btw. I couldn't retract at all till I was about 10 or 11.

I can't retract it at all both hard and soft. Also can I buy steroid cream over the counter at a pharmacy without a prescription?

You can get 0.05% betamethasone cream without a prescription, but if you can't fully retract when soft, you may need a stronger strength, which you'd need to see a doctor for. If the doctor's first suggestion is surgery, then you're probably in the USA, and I'd seek a second or even third opinion.
Roughly how far in mm can you open your foreskin when soft? If you have pinhole phimosis, then I'd try gentle stretching and steroid creams first, but if that doesn't work, then surgery may be required, which could be preputioplasty, a dorsal slit, or circumcision. Don't try to it too fast. Gentle is key, and even if it seems to be giving quick results, don't overdo it.
If you google "phimosis stretching" or search this forum, you'll find lots of information from people who have fixed phimosis, even when they were told they needed to be circumcised. Some people will need surgery to fix it though, and some people choose to just live with it (personally I would want it fixed, even if it required surgery).
NORM-UK have a retired GP who specialises in cases like this.
