HI, i have been on Orienca for 2 years and it has quit working. Now my doctor wants to put me on CIMZIA. I heard that it doesnt help the RA much but if you have psorisis it will help that. Also do you have to take methrotrexate and prednizone with the Cimzia? I hope this gets to the right place. Thank you all

Hi, my doctor started me on Cimzia this past fall after HUMIRA stopped working for my seronegative RA. At the same time, I went on a gluten free diet bc i was at my wit's end from pain and willing to do anything to get relief. I KNEW when i went see my doc in early JAN my results would be good bc I felt amazing. No more pain, no morning stiffness. occasional discomfort when weather shifts or a day or two before my injection is due. Lab results showed inflammation returned to normal. STILL on methotrexate, hydrochloroquinine, mobic but dtarting to cut dose of prednisone to eventually get off if it. Hope this info helps you.

I was on Cimzia for 11 months and no other drug for RA and did fine until I started to have heart palpitations. So drug stopped a yr ago. Am going to restart it again next month. The med for depression seemed to be causing heart palp so I am hopeful that the Cimzia will work again. MTX made me too sick so it was not added. I also have Crohn's diseae and Cimzia works for both as does Humira but after 3 doses the side effects were too awful to tolerate on that. Good luck with the drug. I hope it works for you.

Hi Gloria, thanks for the info. By your post I am assuming you were not on any pain medication or prednisone. were the shots painful and did you have any rash or anything at the site and where did they stick you? Also I read that the serum is thick and takes awhile to give. The reason for all the questions is that I have been on Remicade and Oriencia and those drugs were infusions, so I am not up on injections for RA, Also after the loading dose were you getting the shots every 4 weeks? THANKS

      Hi again

I gave the shot every 2 wks b/c I have RA and crohns, But the doc said I could do every 4 wk which is 2 shots, I think that is the RA schedule protocol. Yes, the medicine is thick so it takes awhile to inject, I had a redness but no rash and redness gone in 1 or 2 days. Doc suggested I apply ice 5 to 10 min before and after at the injection site to reduce pain and redness. That helped. I had a bigger problem with Humira causing pain/ redness at site. You can inject in thigh or abdomen.I always did abd for some reason. My first shot of humira and cimzia were by the nurse at the doc office. I was really afraid but try and stay positive and hopeful. There are good directions that come with the medicine enclosed in the packages

Correct, I was not taking prednisone before or during cimzia and took tylenol or aleve for pain I am in the US so those drugs don't have the same name outside of US from what I gather

I have had a terrible upper resp infection and been to the doc 3x in a week for steroids and inhalers. So have not started cimzia again. I had constant cough and feeling of a lump in my throat. off Prednisone and antibiotics for now but had to go back to inhalers. Always something !

I am to try Cimzia next Wed, May 8th. I'm a little nervous also. IDK anything about the shots. But will go to hospital to get it so can let you know after. I am on methotrexate and Prednisone. But these two not doing a good job, I have inflammation running rampant I guess, all I know am hurting. I take 8 methotrexate once a week, was taking 2 Prednisone a day but rheumatologist had cut me back to 1 one day ½ a pill the next trying to wean me off of them. I take 2 folic acids pills everyday morn then night. I have osteoarthritis in my knees have had them drained and steroid injections in them. The orthopedist gave me some type of fairly new steroid shot this time, said it would last longer. Has worked really well. Got the right knee done in Jan and the left knee done two days ago I am 70 years old.

Hi, I have had the starter doses. its 2 shots every time you get the dose. Since I have had the starter dose I will get the shots every 4 weeks. I do not have any reaction to the shots, in fact you cannot see where they gave them to me. The biggest problem I am having is a feeling of being ill. No energy, feel nauseous, bowel problems and not wanting to eat anything! I think I have taken off some pounds also. Not sure its the medication but it started right after my last dose. I will call the doctor and see what she thinks, probably put me on another pill to take!!! Good luck

So far the cimzia has not affected me. i see it can take 2 wks to 6 months to help one. Hopefully it doesn't take that long for me. The 3rd set of starter injections will be this coming week. I hope I'm like you and it helps me lose weight! lol That Prednisone makes me want to eat! Plus it makes my skin thin on my forearms, everytime i bump them it looks like i have been pulled out of a knothole! ugh

Hope its doing well! for you. I recently purchased some matcha hope this helps me.
