I need some advice on my supposed allergy problem

I went to the doctor today because I have been sick for more than 2 weeks. After an x-ray the doctors said that she did not believe that it was a cold but rather allergies that my allergies that have gone gangbusters following my cold. She said the chest x-ray looked good and I have to admit that I don't have any of the normal symptoms of an infection. But I cannot breath although my oxygen level is fine. And of course my nose is runny and itchy and I have a horrible cough. She put me on some prednisone so I'm hoping that that will help. I have contacted my allergist who is going to change my nasal spray and I'm hoping that that will help too. But I am starting to doubt that this is allergy only because this is really bad. I cannot continue like this my breathing is so bad I cannot go to the bathroom and get back to the couch without breathing heavily. And I told the doctor this too well she's a PA not a doctor. So I'm asking everyone here that has experience with allergies what is your take on this

I have been suffering with sinusitis which is allergy related apparently for about 8 months and nothing works for the allergy! Nasal sprays made me worse.
Dymstia was hell, gave me panic attacks and depression as well as massively enhanced sinus pain.
As for the breathing, I am young, fit 26 year old but a simple walk up the stairs leaves me breathless, like a deep heavy breathing. Similarly oxygen levels are fine and chest is clear, it's not asthma either?!. Got told it was anxiety and allergies however I have gone from being able to cycle 60km to just 10km in 5 months through shear exhaustion and the doctors still won't admit something wrong!!
Got prescribed sertraline

Never mind. I just looked it up. It's an antidepressant. I'm already on enough of them. So I certainly don't need more of those. I have plenty of health problems and I am certainly not in good health. I did get some relief from the last prescription nasal spray she gave me but not a lot and that was before this whole illness started. And I do have asthma as well. So it is my hope that with this new prescription of nasal spray and using my inhaler more frequently that it will help. But God forbid this last me for very long. I truly am sorry for you. I think you should go see a pulmonologist if you haven't already. They will do a pulmonary function test which measures your breath how hard you can breathe in and how hard you can breathe out. This might help you out and give you a true idea of what's going on. And if that doesn't show anything then you need to go to see a cardiologist. Because that would be another reason to be breathless when doing exercises. They will do a stress test which you should be able to handle since you're healthy. That's the thing they do with you on the treadmill hooked up to a bunch of wires. When I was healthy I had one done and it was relatively easy but they do work you out.
