I need some clarity here

I've always had IBSsymptoms going back to when I was a kid. Over the past 6 moths I have acquired most of the classic ones- abdominal pain that moves around, excessive gas, bloating, cramps, urgency that relives pain most of the time and inconsistent stools. However recently had an episode that changed my bowel movements considerably and made me feel pains in my back, I was also reminded that my dad has Colitis. This made me quite concerned.

So I went to the doctor and he ordered some tests. My blood tests came back normal (including the inflammation marker and normal celiac reading), I haven't got my stool test back yet.

Over the past few days. I've felt a little flushed sometimes without a temperature and watering eyes. I also suffer from extremely strong anxiety and I don't know how much that's contributing to this.

Obviously I can't rule it out yet but can I get some opinions? I don't have any symptoms of colitis or chrons apart from slightly irritated eyes but it's that family connection that's troubling me deeply.

I do sometimes get a mouth ulcer as well, but they're like 4-5 months apart.

Hi. My IBS is totally linked with my anxiety. If I get a pain in my stomach keep going to the toilet and the urgency feeling my anxiety is really bad. I take Imodium and it settles for a few days then I'm constipated. Also if I feel anxious my IBS is triggered. Have you spoke to a DR about medication for anxiety that may decrease the IBS??? When I first had antidepressants a few years ago my IBS literally disappeared. It's all connected to my nerves. I started suffering randomly with anxiety a couple of months ago and I'm hoping the meds will help it all settle down soon. It's been nearly 6 weeks which is still early days and has been a bumpy road but I'm hoping it will be ok soon. Have a chat with you Dr to find something that can help with anxiety and I bet the IBS will settle. When I spoke to my Dr he said there is no pint treating your IBS until your anxiety is under control. Keep us posted and take care. I know exactly how you feel

You can get back pain with IBS. I have had rhis.

Since your inflammation markers came back normal, that would suggest you don’t have IBD.  Weight loss and bleeding are symptoms of IBD, if you don’t have these symptoms, IBD is less likely.  Mouth ulcers could be due to feeling run down because of anxiety. Watering eyes and dry mouth may be caused by medication you are taking.  Anxiey and IBS are linked and IBS symptoms can change over time, so don’t worry.  Even though your dad has Colitis, doesn’t necessarily mean that you have it.

I've never had bleeding, only mucus. I might have had one incident with a drop of blood but that came from pushing/wiping too hard. I've never had blood in the stool itself.

Mucus is also an IBS symptom. Don’t worry, you are probably having a prolonged IBS flare up.

Yea I hope it is! Btw the watery eyes symptom has vanished. Over the past 2 weeks the symptoms have been so bizarre, they keep changing and the pain keeps moving around, sometimes it's pressure right at the center of my lower back, sometimes I get crams in my upper colon, sometimes I get no pain and normal bm's

Since your watery eyes have got better, that would suggest infection.  There have been strange bugs about at the tail end of last year.  Once again, don’t worry.  Your bowel symptoms are typical of IBS.  Symptoms come and go, the pain moves around and you can get back pain. The sigmoid colon, which is the end of the bowel, wraps around your lower back and this is why you get back trouble. You can get pain just about anywhere.   I have had all the symptoms you describe.  Symptoms can and do change.

If you have running eyes could that be caused by an Anxiety.

You need to complete your tranche of tests before you jump either way. Your GP has several options, one being attached to diet, He will however decide what type or what is causing your IBS

It sounds that you may be anxious of what may be causing  this complaint, hopefully you will be happier when you know your test results.

You need to remember however, everyone seems to have something rong in their lives and have to move on and be  accepting of your lot.

    Good Luck
