I am here to share my story
I was in a relationship with a man for 2 years. I went away on a 2 month trip overseas, I took a break from him and met a 22yr old guy and had unprotected intercourse with him once. 2 weeks later, it was time for my period and the day I got my period I felt tender on one side of the external labia. This was exactly 1 week ago on Thursday Feb 23rd, by Saturday, on the left lip I had tenderness and a few bumps. Nothing like the photos on the internet. I did not have any oozing, or blisters, nor fever, or cold flu symptoms. I simply had tenderness and a few bumps on one side of my upper external labia (nothing inside). Sunday Feb 25th, I went to see a doctor and he told me the worst news. He told me I have herpes, he did not test but he stated by the way it looked that it was herpes. Told me to take valtrex for 5 days, 5 times a day for 200MG. I did take the medicine and today on the fifth day of my outbreak It is completely gone. I decided to fly back to my home town and my boyfriend has been trying to talk to me to get back together but i feel terrible. Anyway, I took a blood test today and will have results on Monday to tell me if its type 1 or 2. What can I say, I haven't had sex with more than 5 guys my entire life and I am 27yrs old. I feel extremely depressed, I've lost interest in life, today I feel tingling all over my body. Not sure if this is normal. Words can't even describe how I feel. The man I love, will not use condoms and I have hinted to him that I cannot have intimacy because don't feel good down there. He stated he understands and he will wait but, he does not like to use condoms with me. 1 week ago my life changed, I never thought I would be one to contract this virus. Any tips on how to prevent giving the love of my life this virus? if I start antivirals does my body become dependent on them? any help

You need to breathe. Calm down. This is a difficult period, but no matter the outcome, you will be PERFECTLY FINE. Life with herpes is like life with eczema or migraines: you take medicine, periodically it gets worse, that's it. (The contagious part comes into play, but it's relatively minor when you treat it properly and use some basic considerations when you're having an outbreak.)
But very first, you need the results of the blood test and ideally a swab test to confirm herpes. The virus takes many forms and it's hard to confirm visually, especially with an absence of blisters and lesions. The first outbreak tends to be the worst. Your symptoms sound very mild – almost too mild for HSV2, so perhaps it's HSV1. No matter the outcome, you seem to have a mild reaction to the virus. That's very good! Some people have it and experience very few outbreaks. This makes it a plausible non-issue in your life.
Your body does not become "dependent" on antivirals. These aren't like a drug like opiates.
Right now you are in the "oh f**k" period. Soon, if you indeed have it, you will be in the "oh well" period. Give it time. And get those results confirmed!

thank you for being supportive.
I am currently waiting on the blood test results.(swab test is nearly impossible at this point since I never grew a blister, just a few tender bumps). I should have these results in 1 or 2 days.
How long after an outbreak do I have to wait to have intimacy? also, my boyfriend doesn't use condoms at all with me, I will explain the gravity of this situation, but I want to know, when there are no sores or lesions what are the chances of him contracting my herpes? will it be possible for us to return to our sexual life with no condoms?

I got the results back and so far it shows HSV Type 1 (this test was after one month of contraction) I will have to retest in 2 more months and check if it is type 2 or if I am safe. I don’t recall ever having type 1 so we will see.
I want some feedback from anyone that has had type 1 or type 2. Today I used a hair removal cream and OMG a little bit got inside the lip near the territory of my first outbreak and it became very very red and now it is a little tender. Could hair removal creams trigger an OB? How do you shave? How about taking the antiviral a prior to laser hair removal, will this cause a type 1 outbreak after I get off the anti virals?

Sorry to hear about your experience, this sounds a bit like my story too. In 2015 I met someone because I was in a abusive relationship and want to get out. I prayed I cried asking God that I need someone to marry and live a happy life. I met the new guy thinking that yes my prayer was answered. Little did I know my life was gonna change and I was about to sleep with a lier. I was 28 then. Anyhow before ww slept I ask him about is std test he told me he dI'd all the test 6 month after he broke up with a woman. Little did I know he was living with that woman and also have another girl which he slept with before he cane to see me in that same month. Then bam I end up with hsv 2 my outbreak was the worse I thought I was going to die. And until this say he denied having it. My outbreak came 2 weeks after I slept with him unprotected. But hey life goes on and it could have been worse and I learn how and when not to truse someone and I will never pass this on to anyone.

Thank you for sharing. How do you prevent this from beings passed to anyone?
The guy i was with doesn't even reply my texts, I am 27yrs old and all my life I've been extremely cautious and this happens. Tell me about you living with GH? Are you in a committed relationship? does Sex cause OB? How do you manage?

We don't deserve this but it teaches us a lesson. and guess what? We are very lucky because herpes and hiv mostly comes hand in hand and it was a relieve when my hiv test was clear.

I got my second outbreak with GHSV1, it has not been as bad as my first but definetly a reminder.
God, I really hope for some sort of cure because this is so detrimental mentally.
Love you guys that supported me and advised me from the beggining. I really needed you and you guys were there.
