I scratched my leg while sleeping and now it looks infected

2 days ago I was sleeping in bed and I could tell I was scratching my leg in my sleep so I stopped. When I woke up it hurt from the scratching a bit, but it didn't look very bad so I just used triple antibiotic and didn't worry about it. Today when I got up it is purpleish-red and has scabbed in some places, but the size of the spot where I scratched has doubled in size. I am wondering if maybe I was bit by a spider and that caused the itch. I have a picture, but not sure how to upload. I am going to the doctor tomorrow.
