I skipped physical therapy on my knee. If I continue it late will I get my flexibility back?

I had a Knee arthroscopy in August for what they thought was a meniscus tear but they actually removed my plica. Because I was lazy I stopped doing physical therapy after a week. I've started to run again but my range of motion is not all the way back and my knee is still really stiff. Sometimes it's better than other times but I want to be able to get my full flexibility back and be able to bend my knee all the way. I can only it bend it about half way back before it stops. What I'm wondering is, Could I continue physical therapy to get that flexibility back or am I out of luck because of my bad decision

    Hello

I hope it’s not too late for you therapy is a very important piece to recovery. I have intense therapy coming up following acl surgery so I have to do my best to stay on top of it. I really hope you get more range of motion in your knee.

I wish I could tell you yes, Kyrie, but......My husband has had 2 knee replacements and with each one he was dedicated to doing his exercises every single day both at home and at PT. I had one knee replacement and multiple arthroscopy on said knee both before and after the replacement and except for a short initial PT after the replacement I did zip exercises at home but kept to my daily routine of housework and up and down stairs. Did he come out better? No! I'm a bit older now and the recent arthroscopy on the remaining "good" knee has been a slow go at about 8 wks. but except for icing a couple times a day and sleeping with a pillow under it at night I haven't done any PT or special exercises. I did have 1 cortisone shot  a couple of weeks ago and I really think it's improving even though some days are better than others. I'm 82. You didn't mention your age. (and I need to look up "plica"....that could be complicating your situation). Long story, short.....I am conflicted on the value of PT/special exercises. Experiment with what works for YOU and just keep moving.

Not sure about the plica component but I vote for continuing PT and really pick their brains for excercise at home. I am 7 weeks post arthroscopy and while I am still stiff and miserable I work hard at my excercise so everyday on top of working Monday-Friday. I really don't know if I will get much better but in my mind I am giving it my all so that in itself makes me feel better. The fact that you can run is encouraging. Go for it, what do you have to lose.
