I started as a "social" drinker and wound up talking to tormenting ghosts years later.

I started as a "social" drinker at 17 and later, in mty mid-30s, I wound up talking to tormenting ghosts for a week, jail cells. incomprehensible demoralisation and an asylum for a day. Later released after being "of no danger to others or self". That was nine years ago and three years ago, respectively. I am 10 months and 1 day "sober" today. My name is Richard and I am an alcoholic.

The following is medical report on chronic alcoholism. The same happened to me. Please note; I started as a "social" drinker.

It is possible to quit for once and for all. You noticed and mentioned the 'rock bottom'. How to bring the 'bottom' up so others can achieve sobriety before going that far down, is the puzzler.

I was talking generally, not specifically me. It was the hardest thing for me to simply say "please help me." Before that came the 'bottom'.
