I started suffering from a leg ulcer, just above my ankle, about a year ago, I visited my GP at first, who refered me to our District Nurses Clinic, who treated my condition well, and it nearly healed but I was then refered to an hospital specilist, by my diabetes doctor. The specilist said it was exmah, and informed not top continue with the dressing, but to use a special cream for the condition, I took his word, and now my ulcer has opened up again, and can be very painful on some occassions. My work involves a lot of walking, as I work in a warehouse. Can anybody give me advice.

I find your information very usful. :?

I have been having venous leg ulcers and some are smaller than others, I have one big one right now that kept getting worse right on the center and middle of my shin..

but I found this prescription medicine from my Mother.. she's a dermatologist and has plenty of samples so I tried the best one they had called ALEVICYN and it starts to heal them immediately. You just spray it on twice a day, try it out!

It will work because I have tried everything and nothing had worked but this.

Hi Tom. I also have a leg ulcer and have tried everything. I would love to try ALEVICYN. Do you know where it is available as I can't order online because I have to have a prescription. I live in sri lanka and it is hard to get anything here that has any effect on it. I have tried a few products that are available online but to know avail. It is so frustrating. Good luck and thanks for your advice. Regards

My father has been suffering from a lower leg ulcer for over a year last February he broke his hip on the affected leg.  Whilst in hospital the ulcer was neglected despite my repeated requests that it should be attended.  Nurses started to attend him at home 2 visits per week it began to heal and they started to visit once a week.  The ulcer began to deterorate.  Just been told today he has got to attend the surgery for treatment as they know he can get out, but this is only because my brother or l take him  The ulcer has broken down and from the bandaging l can see he has two affected areas.  My father is not obese has not got diabetes eats a healthy diet l take him on daily walkabouts.  Not sure where to go from now onwards.

Attending the surgery tomorrow morning just want to know the best way forward.

Someone asked if I was stil working and if wearing a support stocking helped heal my leg ulcer.  It did, I'm still working, at 71, and my leg healed (in four weeks) by wearing a support stocking.  I no longer wear one.  I found that soaking my leg in hot salty water, and applying creams didn't work for me, maybe those meathods will for you. Long support stockings above the knee worked for me, it increases your blood flow which heals the skin.  I heard athletes use them to increase the blood flow to their hearts when running.  All best.  A.

I have treated mini leg ulcerations with a product called a unna boot. It was first put on me by my cardiovascular surgeon for varicose ulcers. I have since then ordered them online and applied them myself. You wrap them on and cover them up with an Ace bandage. They are a pre treated gause that dries the ulcer out and will make it go to away after about 10 days. The downside is you have to cover it to shower. This is the only thing that has seemed to work for me. Any creams or anything that make the ulceration wet as opposed to keeping it dry make it worse

In my opinion, you should consult with some specialist for the treatment. Take care.

I really appreciate your responses to my question.  I do not and have not had any broken skin.  I have a hard dark red spot about the size of my palm on the inside of my leg just above the ankle.  I am concerned that it could become an ulcer.  I had a great aunt who did develop an ulcer that never healed.  She probably had it for twenty years, maybe longer.  Do you know of any way to get the color back and the hard place softened?  I feel like it is hard because the circulation is reduced or stopped.  Thank you so much for answering!

My husband went to a vein specialist to help with his and they did surgery but I don't think it helped his. His was an open sore it was not like the one you have. Maybe a vein specialist would help you because it sounds more like circulation problem.
