I suffer at least twice or maybe three times a year from cold sores, usually one blister on the weakest part of my lip.

Before zovirax was invented my cold sore would last anything up to 2 weeks, but by using zovirax preparations when symptoms first present it only last up to five days.

I had one present last Thursday, 10th February, and today, Tuesday, 15th February its little more than a pin head.

Thank God for zovirax preparations!!!!!!!!!!

Has the Dr diagnosed this? Is it possible that it could be Impetigo?

Two tips for the two 'experiences' below:

Since sunlight is often the trigger factor for people who develop cold sores when they are on holiday, you may prevent the cold sore all together by using a good sunblock on your face - or wearing a sunhat. OK, you won't get a tanned face, but you will be glad not to have sun-damaged skin when you are older, and fake-tan is getting better all the time!

I have found that using a cream with melissa officinalis in it (that's lemon balm in English) has prevented my last three outbreaks from developing. So instead of five days for the cold sore to clear up - it has been two days of using a cream several times a day to prevent it! Call the HVA (Herpes Viruses Association) helpline if you need to know where to find a cream.
