I think I have a case to sue my old psychiatrist

I first saw this psychiatrist when I was 13, in 2002, then was diagnosed with OCD. In 2009 he diagnosed me with major depression, and gave me zopiclone to me. I didn't know it at the time how addictive the drug was, I trusted him; as I was unaware of my addiction getting worse, he just prescribed me more and more and did what I asked to get it. The highest he gave me was 6x 7.5mg, daily as needed. When I was so high on zopiclone I felt great and didn't need to see him any more so I stopped seeing him. After zopiclone would no longer work from tolerance I turned to illegal drugs to get my high and since then I've attempted suicide 4 times and have been in the psychiatric ward 6 times. I was diagnosed, not by him, but by a team of doctors the second time I attempted suicide with BPD.

Oh my word what a drug to prescribe u.. that wouldn't help with your depression surely. It knocks me out after taking it .. I try my hardest not to take it because of the horror story's about it , I asked my doc couldn't he prescribe me amother sleeping tab without the bad addiction, he said there all as bad as each other. I went on holiday to turkey had a letter from my doc in case I needed them.I saw the doctor . he wanted me to go the hospital to see a phyciatrist as he said its like taking cocaine..I thought what an idiot how is it..obvious ment the addiction side of it... I wish you luck it's a shame your doc let u get this far .

Your doc is right, Sharon, they are all bad - there's no free lunch.  My parents use diphenhydramine (the antihistamine) to help them sleep, use it nightly, and it turns out that it is a really bad one for long term affects on the brain, increased chances for dimentia!  All the anticholinergic drugs carry that risk.

BPD is a common diagnosis once you have been using psych meds because they cause you to cycle.  It is not a true diagnosis of You but symptoms that come about from being on these drugs for years, as well as the illegal drugs.  I'm so sorry you are in this situation.  I hope they didn't throw you on an antipsychotic because that would not be addressing the root problem.  What are you on now?  Are you using street drugs still?
