Firstly let me say that it is a pointless exercise getting yourself in a state and 'freaking out' about something that might be as insignificant as a minor infection.

You have taken the correct action by organising an std checkup.

Look at it this way, if you have contracted an std, then it will be treated by doctors who know what they are doing, and if you have not then all this worry is over nothing.

What I would say to you is that as a precaution you should not participate in any further sexual activity with any partner until such time as you have the results from the test.

Thank you for your input and opinion.I really appreciate it.I'm only freaking out because I'm 29yo and only been sexually active with 5 women, All of which I've been in serious relationships with.this was the first time I've ever had a one night stand I'm really worried that this one mistake will haunt me for the rest of my life

At some future time when all this is over with you will look back and know that you did the right thing by seeking advice and taking the necessary action.

As I said previously, worrying at this stage is pointless - what has happened has happened, and I doubt very much if it will haunt you for the rest of your life.

Is the bump still there? Did you use protection?

Keep in mind, that a week is not enough time to create antibodies. My test a week after infection, came back negative, but the culture of an open sore came back positive. I went back 3 months later and was tested for everything again and that tike, the herpes test did come back positive. Make sure when you ask for a full screening, that you specifically request herpes, as it is not included in the full test panel.

Did she give oral sex to you?

Yes she did give me oral but the bump is gone.the tingling and burning had gotten a little better today.there was no protection,I really don't remember much.I have a small cold sore in the corner of my mouth, but think it might be stress related

Well, if she gave you oral, she nay have passed HSV1 to you. So if she tests negative for HSV 2, that is all fine and dandy, but the rate of new herpes cases from oral sex is increasing significantly. So she may very well not have genital herpes, but that does not mean she doesn't have oral and 80% of adults have oral herpes. Have you always gotten cold sores on your mouth previous to her?

Well, the problem w no sore and blood tests even when the body has had time to create antibodies is, it doesn't tell you the location of the infection. So for you, you would come up positive for HSV 1 on a blood test anyway and w out a sore to swab, you could assume it just means you have it in the mouth and not realize you have it on your genitals too. You would only know w no sores if it was on your genitals it you tested positive for hsv 2.

Most people aren't going to tell you they are infected while lying in bed, after doing the deed and especially w no protection. Your symptoms do sound like herpes, but in your case it will be hard to tell w out presenting sores and until you have time to build antibodies, along w the fact, there's a possibility that you got HSV 1 on your genitals. People are quick to say they are clean of sexually transmitted diseases who have cold sores, but you are in fact not, as HSV 1 can lice both places and so can HSV 2, but only 1% of oral herpes is HSV 2. the point is, people are dismissive of cold sores, when it in fact is a chronic viral infection you will have for life, but on your mouth and can easily spread to your genitals through oral sex. Do you ask people before you kiss them if they have cold sores before? Do you disclose that you get cold sores before kissing someone? I doubt it and I doubt that question is asked prior to oral sex either. So why oral heroeswis treated differently than genital herpes is lost on me. It is the sane thing, society just can't hide that they have it as well on their mouths, so they downplay it and name it cold sores or fever blisters
