I think I have endometriosis

I have been suffering with right pelvic pain for about 10 years. I am 28 now and I have lost count at the amount of times I have been in and out of my gp with pain in that area. My doctor keeps telling me that I have ibs but I am not convinced at all. The pain has got a lot worse over the years, almost like it is spreading up my right side and across my abdomen. For the past year it has drastically got worse. For about two weeks out of every month I am in agony. The pain in my right side is so bad and it radiates into my hip and leg. At some points I loose the feeling in my leg. The pain is also across my abdomen and causes me nausea. I have severe upper right pain just under my ribs and radiating up in my shoulder and collarbone. On top of the pain I so have really bad skin which I never had problems with before. I have night sweats and anxiety and the worst headaches you could imagine. After years of my gp making me feel like I was imagining the pain I changed to another doctor who has referred me to a gynaechologist. I am worried that it has been so long that my body is already damaged inside. I haven't felt healthy in a long time. Does this sound familiar to anybody?

Awww lovely this has been me for the last so many years until I begged and begged and begged for a gynae referral in the end the pain got that bad I rang 111 and they told me to go up. Then done more for me than my GP ever did. They examined me done obs and could clearly see I was in so much pain I was crying. The admitted me into hospital and sent up to the gynaecologist ward. I waited around in a waiting room to see a doctor after years of being send to general surgery for suspected appendicitis and seeing so many different consultant from gastrointestinal doctors the lot and it took gynae a year of seeing me every other week in the same curled up ball to listen. They kept telling me it wasn't gynae issue it was an IBS flare up take buscapan and all these different antispasmodics and laxatives because I do suffer with chronic constipation. Long story short in July I had a really bad time I was collapsing from pain from passing so much blood during a period. Gynae booked me in as an outpatient to see a specialist nurse and they agreed finally after such a hard fight to do a laparoscopy. They still said it wasn't endo it couldn't be it was nothing. All scans and bloods and everything always came back clear to make me out like I was lying.. beginning of August I was admitted AGAIN and the doctors said it can't keep happening. So they pushed my appointment forward and gave me a surgery date for 3 weeks of the admitting . 5 weeks ago I had a laparoscopy which confirmed stage 4 endo. It was everywhere and all my organs were stuck together and there were pieces of fatty tissue hanging from my appendix which was twist which is probably why I got the send to general surgery for appendicitis symptoms. I got sent through psychological assessment and psychiatric assessments dragging up every deal of my past because I wasn't believed. Keep pushing your way through. My advice would be (because I wish I did) pay for a one off appointment to see a private doctor (roughly £100) they will refer you to gynaecology on the NHS. I should have done it a long time ago my friend done it that way because he GP like us wouldn't listen. If things get too much skip going to your GP ring 111. Tell them you have right sided abdo pain just don't mention endo at all until you get in to see a doctor and just explain you don't know if that's what it could be or even ovarian cysts as endo suffered tend to get months cysts that rupture and you only know about it by having a scan otherwise it's just pain. I hope you're okay and haven't fell asleep by my essay 🙈🤗 xx

Shauna, I'm glad that you're about to see a gynecologist.  Write out all the symptoms a week or so ahead.  This will give you time to add or subtract and make things as clear as possible.

Many of us have been misdiagnosed as having IBS when our real problem is endo, tho there are some who have both.

    I hope they help you.
