I think I have herpes

Hello all,

I'm after a bit of advise and support. I'm a 25 year old female and on Christmas day i realised it was burning Everytime I went to the toilet. Me and my boyfriend had sex a few days before Christmas day. On Christmas day night I also started with a cold On boxing day i noticed white ulcer type things on my vagina and it is still very painful when going to the toilet. I am going to be ringing my doctors tomorrow to try and get an appointment, failing that I'm going to try going to a walk in centre.

I have been going to the toilet with the help of having a shower head on cold facing my vagina which seems to dilute the urine.

Does anybody have any tips for me or how long this should last? Is it worthwhile getting some tablets from the doctors?

Any advice would be appreciated as right now I feel horrendous and alone!

    Hey Samantha,

So regardless you should go to the doctor because if your not actually diagnosed and tested it could be anything. Yes burning while peeing is a symptom it is also a symptom of lots of things. Going in water does help the pain. Try increasing your water intake as well and be sure you request a panel with herpes because drs usually don't test unless it's asked for specifically. I know it's scary but there is lots of support here and information on the internet. Best of luck Hun.

Oh and make sure you get the ulcers swabbed and not just blood tested. If your recently infected it won't show up on a blood test, if they swab the ulcer you should get results back with in 1 week.

Sorry to say this but if it's ulcer, it's most likely herpes. That's what happened to me. I thought it could be something else as my ulcer didn't hurt too much. Ended up, it is. It could be few other viruses but it's commonly herpes.
