I think I have herpes and I am really depressed because of it.

How can I know if have herpes for sure? I had protected sex with a prostitute a month and a half ago and after a couple of days I had bumps on my penis head and underneath the foreskin. They looked like pimples, there was no itching, burning or any other sensation. I got it checked with a dermatologist who said that he was 70% sure that it was herpes as there were no herpes symptoms, also the bumps did not look like that of herpes and he gave me anti viral medicine and ointment. After a week of the course there were no visible signs of treatment so I went again and this time he gave me anti fungal medicine too. After taking the anti fungal, the bumps got cleared in 2 days. I had protected sex with my girlfriend after a week using lubricant, my penis still had redness, after which the bumps reappeared. This time I just took the anti fungal and it got cleared in 4 days. Yesterday I had 6 bumps on my penis head and underneath the foreskin right after masturbation.

A swab test can help to detect your herpes infection. But I think you're not infected with herpes. The bumps and redness after masturbation can occur because of rough irritation during masturbation. If these bumps don't go away and get worse, you should check with your gyn again

did you read the story? why do you think it's not herpes, although i never had any symptoms like flu or body ache also the bumps on bursting did not emanate liquid and also didn't crust over. there was no pain, i could rub sanitizer on it and it wouldn't burn.

hey I think you're suffering from skin irritation. please do not put sanitizer on your penis! do not use soap on it either. wash it with warm water only for a while and try to not examine yourself every time you pee.

yeah i never put sanitizer on it, i just meant that it doesnt burn. if it is skin irritation then why does it recur after sex because this has never happened before in my entire life. please check the pics once again and thank you for your answer.

did the doctor do a swab test? since theres no discomfort, i would say its not herpes. maybe you have a yeast infection or something

the place where i'm from, there is no facility for swab tests. i am going to have igg test in june (3 months after exposure). the bumps don't crust over after bursting and there is no liquid, it has a layer of skin underneath more like...much less severe. this is a picture of balanitisimage

I think it's possible that you're not taking the anti-fungal medication long enough. You have to continue taking it according to the directions (probably 2 weeks or so; it'll say on the package or as prescribed by a doctor) -- even if it appears to have cleared up, you have to keep taking the anti-fungal medication for the entire duration as directed. It seems to me that if the anti-fungal meds have cleared it up twice, your issues is probably related to this kind of topical skin infection (which can be pretty easily passed from sex workers), so I'd really exhaust this potential solution unless you're 100% sure it's not going to work.

But I have to say, it doesn't look like herpes to me at all. Sometimes herpes can take on different looks -- and some skin infections can look like a herpes outbreak, so that makes it all the more challenging. But let's just say this doesn't look like the 'classic case' of a herpes outbreak so that fact brings the likelihood of it down quite a bit in my mind.

thank you mate. i will complete the course of anti fungal medicine this time to see if it all clears up. my only concern is of the recurrences. this time around too it happened and got cleared in 2 days. also it happened just minutes after the act of masturbation which i understand does not happen in case of herpes right?

Incredibly unlikely, yeah. Sounds like skin irritation and the possible fungal infection hanging around then propagating and coming back quite quickly, which it can do if not killed off completely. The two could be directly related. Be very thorough with the next course of anti-fungal meds and let's hope that makes things right. Let us know how it goes, or if something changes.

so finally after 3 long agonizing months all my test reports came negative and i just cant express how happy i am because after the stupid mistake i had committed, a disease seemed inevitable. but thanks be to jesus. i thank you all for your help and support. to everyone else, herpes is not a death sentence and life is still the same as were before, but we should always be careful, always use protection and if possible try to know about the history of your partner and stay away from people who are too promiscuous.
