I think I have lichen sclerosis

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had terrible itching for years although recently I noticed the discoloration is spreading. My anus is starting to itch too although I am trying not to scratch it or the skin will get rough like it is on my labia.

How do I get a diagnosis? My GP is a man and I am a bit uncomfortable going to him about this.

Also I am a bit worried about using steroid creams, will this make me have masculine features or anything? I already have high testosterone as I have PCOS.

Has anyone used natural remedies for their condition.

Please post your experiences. Thanks x

Hi, you really should get a proper diagnosis as something is clearly wrong and you shouldn't have to experience discomfort like that. Phone your GP and ask to see a female Dr. If there isn't one (which I think there will be, as I think there has to be!) then ask to be refered to a gynaecologist.

I felt the same about steroids but with LS I don't think there is any other way at the start at least. My plan is to see a homeopath soon but I'm giong through an itchy phase and once that has calmed down (with the aid of the trusty dermovate) I will go. Once I started using the Dermovate the itching stopped, it was such a relief! and once the itching has cleared you don't have to use it that much. I only use it whenever I feel a flare up. I think everyone who suffers from this condition gets used to a certain amount of itching from time to time but why suffer intolerable itching?

If you do have LS and you don't seek treatment it could get worse. I only suffered the discomfort for a few months and my inner labia has practically disapeared (LS scars you) I am only 36 and I worry what it will be like in 10, 20 years from now.

Please see someone about this soon. If you have to see a male GP I really wouldn't worry they are professionals who have seen it all and there to help and won't judge you. I just don't care anymore! You have to take care of yourself.

    Good luck

    hi

i think i will see my doctor asap as it is incredibly itchy, especially at night.

the skin is turning white and spreading. it feels like paper and looks wrinkly sad

if i seek treatment now, does the creams stop your vagina from \"shrinking\" - that really worries me. i dont understand why it makes your clitoris and labia buried.

    sad

Hi, me again. yes the creams will stop the shrinkage but I don't know if there is any reverse of any changes. In my experience I felt definate changes like scarring which went away after using the cream but I think it only smoothed things out. It did feel better to the touch though. My inner labia is almost gone now! in a matter of 2-3 years! If I hadn't been using the cream then I dread to think what it would be like. If things have shrunk a bit too much then I think you can get surgery. Have you seen a doctor yet ?
