I think I knnow how my bartholin cyst began

Well everyone has there own theory on how these little buggers got started, some say shaving others are just plain old confused. and who wouldn't be.. Well as women sometimes we wear tight clothes down to the underwear under our clothes. As women we know how to deal with the struggle of how to maintain our beauty. Sometimes we ignore those panties riding up our butt, or put on pants that are WAY TO TIGHT. I think thats how mine started. I know that I had on underwear that were bunched up for quit some time, later that night when I got home to relax for the evening I noticed that I was a little sore down there, but Ipaid it no attention. and why would I, who can say they ever heard of a bartholin gland until they develope one??? Well wees went by and I ignored it, it got worst. Went through alot but as of now I'm doing better. What is your opinon on how you might have got your cyst? Think about it can this possible be a reason, doctors don't seem to know much about this situattion because not enough of women deal with this 3% out of 100% thats alot but not enough. Lets educate each other, Thank You.

    I got mine when I was 19 when I was using my then boyfriends electric clippers to shave and while I was talking to him I nicked myself shaving where the gland sits, I felt the area but there was no blood so I thought nothing of it.. I had sex that night and the next day I noticed swelling that got worse throughout that day.

    I had it for 18 months until it disappeared and then suddenly appeared again 4 weeks ago. I was gonna go through another 18 months or longer with this thing and had surgery.

    I don't know what caused my reoccurence. I had shaved and then had my period which could have caused some friction on the skin causing a flare up. I had also had sex with my boyfriend in the week of the flare up.. So who knows! I had sex for the first time in 5 weeks (4 weeks after surgery) yesterday and straight after went to sit in a hot bath with salt. Thankfully my boyfriend has been really patient and understanding through this.

      Hello, thanks for sharing, this thing is a pain to go through since there isn't enough info on this. I have shaved before never had this problem afterwards, but I try not to shave down there at all. Instead I use "nair brazilian clay" it is safe for that area, plus your not in any jeperordy of cutting yourself. I take my sweet time doing this so none goes were its not suppose to go. I stopped shaving after this whole insident of the bartholin cyst, since I don't really know how it all began. thanks again, patience is very important. That is a great thing to be surrounded by.

      I'll have to look into that and get some. I've been trying to find alternative ways of removing hair down there. When I was at the hospital awaiting surgery two seperate times by two different people I was asked if I had shaved. I think more times than not they've had women come in with one and they've all said they had shaved.

      I don't think I have the nerve to wax & laser hair removal can be expensive. I'm defintely going to see around for what you use. I am too scared now to shave.
