I think I may have had skin cancer, I'm now scared!

I recently had a lump on my nose which was a little painful but made my nose look swollen. As I was going through exams at university I put this down to stress. However this did not go and suddenly over a day or two it turned into an open sore and scabbing it also looked as if there was two small pimples within the sore and it was quite deep.
I had not touched it or put anything on it at all. I then went to the pharmacy as I thought I had an infection and they told me to buy savalon and that there is nothing wrong with it and it was just a spot.. However It was stil oozing yellow and was sore.
After about a month it finally started to clear and was scabbing. As a women I do wear makeup so washing my face and applying makeup around it meant I sometimes caught it which meant it bled or oozed. Eventually when the scab cleared I was left with a crevis in my nose (a big scar). I do have pictures if needed. I am so scared that I had some form of skin cancer. I have spoken to a family friend who told me to contact my GP as it may have been and it could be dangerous but I don't want to waste their time.

Your family friend clearly knows very little, Cancer lumps get bigger, are painless and usually tend to get darker. They certainly don't start oozing, clearing and then scabbing. Yellow ooze is typical of infection and scabbing is part of the healing process. I would bet a kidney that it is just something like an infected cyst.

Dear gemma6294, I'm sorry to hear of your experience; however, if this problem should reoccur, I would consult with a dermatologist. I don't feel that getting an opinion from a specialist is a "waste of their time'.

Hello Gemma, do go and see your GP and tell him/her of your worries. You aren't wasting their time. If you don't want to go to your GP, then ask a Pharmacist, they are very experienced & will tell you whether you should go & see a doctor.
Good luck Gemma.
