I think I might have an STD?

Back in January I noticed I had a tiny rash on my vagina. It was super small and almost looked like dry skin but also looked red and gross.I hadn't had sex in over a month when I discovered it but I immediately thought I had herpes and I went to a gyn to get it checked out and the doctor asked if I had any pain and I told her no there was just slight itching. After an exam, she told me that it was contact dermatitis and that I should stop using any soaps I was using down there. She also prescribed me a cream and the rash went away within a week. So I threw away my soap the rash has never returned and even my friends who saw the rash told me that they did not think it was herpes because they have felt with rashes that were similar. I was still worried and even asked the guy I hooked up with from a month ago if he had any STD's because he was a pretty promiscuous guy. He told me no and that he was sure he was clean and we also used a condom. However, ever since that rash I have had so many issues with my vagina. I kept having a burning feeling the week before my period and every doctor I went to told me that it was probably normal and would pass. I got STD tests and everything came back negative but I know STD tests don't test for herpes so I'm still worried. Recently, I went back to the gyn because I was not having any relief and found out I had bacterial vaginosis and was in so much pain but I took the medicine and felt fine for a week. Today I went back to the doctor's because I had the same symptoms and she noticed I had some areas near my vagina that were red and painful. She swabbed them and came back to tell me everything on the slide was normal. I was also given a pee test and found out I had a mild UTI so she has prescribed me medicine for that. I'm not sure what to do right now. I'm so scared that I might have herpes but I'm not sure if im overthinking or not and would like to hear some opinions. Ik HSV can go undetected in many people which is why I worry.

Sounds like you’re having recurrent issues with BV and that’s all. After having BV I was extremely sensitive and it took over a year for me to finally get back to normal down there. This was before my herpes diagnosis, if you don’t have any lesions, bumps, or pain there is nothing to worry about. I recommend boric acid suppositories with coconut oil and lavendar if you’re having issues, pop one in before you go to sleep and it helps tremendously.

I have had pain in the areas that were red and irritated! The rash I had back in January was not painful but just kind of there. It almost looked like some bits of my skin had been rubbed raw (which probably could have been from using a loofa down there). Only thing is that when I was swabbed today BV didn’t come back up? The doctor told me however that it could be irritation from having it a couple weeks ago and told me to buy a personal lube to help. She did swab the red areas to see if a viral infection was present and nothing came up.

Was your rash small red circles with some larger areas as well.  What did it look like ? I just recently had what my doc thibk was a reaction to a chemical But I ask to get tested to make sure.

Yes! Some of the dry areas were small while some were large but overall it was really tiny compared to my entire vagina. They definitely started out raw and scabbed over which is why I thought it was herpes but my doctor assured me that it was contact dermatitis. If you wind up having contact dermatitis just make sure you throw away whatever is giving you a reaction or it will come back

If your swab is negative for herpes so dont worry.

You can be sure by blood test also.

Upload pic if you still have rash
