I think I might have Herpes please help

On Wednesday I started to get really itchy down there. I have had thrush a number of time so just assumed it was that. Put a load of cream on and went about my day. The next day I got the tablet and again continued putting on loads of cream. When I got home that day I noticed I had a few spots on my vulva - they looked like they should have a white head on but they clear.

I started panicking and managed to get an appointment at the gum clinic. The dr said that I had bv and gave me antibiotics for it. I told him about the spots and he did a swab of it but said that it didn't look like it was herpes so wouldn't give me anything for that. They haven't changed too much since then but I've just got way more.

As the day went on my glads started swelling and I started to feel really tired. That night I slept for 9 hours and the next day I still didn't feel great so pretty much stayed in bed. I had to take 5 antibiotics in one go so wasn't sure if it was that or something else.

My spots are still there and seem to have multiplied. They only really hurt when I push them down, there more annoying. It hurts to pee still the spots are red with yellow type head on them.

I know it will take a week to get my results and with the bank holiday maybe a little longer. It's stressing me out.

I Was last sexually active with someone last Friday and we didn't use a condom however it's someone I've been sleeping with for the last 10 years. I know this doesn't matter with herpes as it can lay dormant.

Herpes is also like Russian roulette. You don't necessarily get it from sex the first time (although you can), so you can be with someone for months or years and not get it, even if it's not always dormant in the other person, until one day the circumstances line up and BOOM! It sounds like it could be herpes, I'm afraid (swollen glands, hurts to pee, bumps, itchiness), but you never know, so best to wait for your results. Good luck!

I think u shld start the herpes pills just incase it is herpes. do not touch them and if u do wash your hands. Stop having sex for now until lesions are gone. it might be another kind of virus. but until waiting u shld start medication as the longer u wait the worst it is and the sooner u start on the pills the better they can control the virus, if just in case it is herpes.

there is really anything to control .. usually once you start a breakout the pills are useless. there is really nothing that she can do besides ride it out

they might be able to give her some numbing cream or something . but other then that.. nothing

What about getting some supplements to take, to build up your immune system in the meantime while u wait for results? Have been reading these problems attack and hurt worse when immune system is down. And building it up would help to quicken recovery period too. I've just got myself olive leaf extract supplements today and just gonna take them everyday for maintenance, but when there's an outbreak going on, you could take the highest allowable dosage and rest more and calm yourself down, so you build a stronger immunity to defend against those attacks. 🙏🏼 take care and don't over worry!

Thanks - I have started taking some supplements and eating better so hopefully that will all help.

I've stopped worrying - what ever happens happens - I can't change it now.

it just might be herpes.. the only real thing you can do is wait it out ..sometimes the sores peel and scab over ..

you dont have any discharge or any of that do you ?

I think it is as well. Just going to see what happens when I get my results. Not point worrying about it now.

I'm feeling so much better this afternoon - stopped worrying got some good food and taken some supplements to boost my immune system. I'm also guessing that my antibiotics has kicked in now for the BV as well.

The sores have got much better and seem to be drying up too.

I do have discharge but again because I have BV not sure what this is actually attributed to this or the potential herpes. Again this has got better since I took the antibiotics

    Hey all,

Still waiting on my results however come to the conclusion that I have herpes now all the signed are there. I git myself some tea tree oil as well as herbal tables to strengthen my immune system but does anyone have recommendations on how to speed up the healing on the lesions?

Occasional soaks in a sitz bath/tub of Epsom salts will help bring relief and hasten drying and thus healing. I never tried this myself, but many others have and swear by it.

Got my results today. Have type 2. I already faced facts that I had it so not too upset. I guess it now for loads of research to figure out how to live with this virus

Sorry to hear that, but it did sound like herpes, unfortunately. rolleyes Have you told your partner? If you want to look for credible info, start with the CDC and ASHA, plus browse the Q&A forum on Westover Heights' website. My post that's pinned to the top of this forum also has a lot of info with links to studies, other reliable sites, etc. Knowledge helps (that's been my coping mechanism, at least!), so I hope that offers you a good start.

Hey Felis can I get you advice on telling my partner. He's not really that we are pretty casual and have been having sex off and on over the last 20 years.

As I got my outbreak 5 days after we had sex is it likely that I got it from him and on this occurrence? I didn't get any numbers back from my test just that I was positive for type 2.

I just don't know what to say to him.

      Thanks

The positive result was from a direct lesion swab, right? If so, there'd be no numbers (only for the blood tests). Also, were you with anyone else in the 2-3 weeks before him? Just trying to clarify the situation to better phrase what you can say.

Yes it was. Oh ok I see

The last person I was with that wasn't him was in Feb.

I'm assuming you've never had any suspicious symptoms before, so if this was your first outbreak and the last person besides him was in February, I'd stick to the facts of the matter. So, a few days after sex with him, you have your first outbreak, it's confirmed by swab as Type 2. Onset of symptoms were very typical for a new herpes infection (within a week), and too far off for the February guy, plus you've never had anything like this before, so the only logical conclusion is that it's from him and he should get tested for HSV-2 IgG antibodies (not IgM), because it can be asymptomatic, in case he says he's never had symptoms. You don't know what else to say, still in shock yourself, will do the IgG test yourself to confirm that it's a new infection (see below), but thought you should inform him as the swab is conclusive, etc., then see what he has to say for himself.

That's one way, at least! But up to you how you wish to break the news. You should also do the IgG blood test yourself. If your outbreak was recent as well as your first, you should still be negative for IgG antibodies, which would indicate a new infection (so from him). If from February, you'd likely test positive for IgG antibodies by now.

Amazing thanks. Went to the Drs and he didn't seem to want to give me the blood test. He gave me a course of Aciclovir. Do I still need this even tho my symptoms were over 10 days ago?

I have spoke to him today already and he is really worried. If it is from him then he didn't have a clue. Told him he should get tested. He said he never has unprotected sex so doesn't understand it. He actually being really nice and asked me what is next.

I have never had anything similar before. Jan after having sex with him I had really bad thrush but never blisters or tingling or glands being raised. I'm sure this was my first outbreak.

      Thanks for you help

Wow, that was quick! And you're welcome. smile

Nearly anything's possible with herpes, but it would seem to point to him, unless your previous yeast infections were in fact mild/mistaken herpes outbreaks (but the thrush was also after him, at least in January, right?).

Either way, he should still test and you can explain to him that it's possible to get herpes even with condoms, since they don't provide full coverage.

That's frustrating how some doctors won't test, by the way. I nearly always go private where I'm based, so provided I'm paying (or my insurance, at least), they'd better do the tests I want! Lol

But seriously, that's the only way you can confirm if this is a new or existing infection for you: positive swab + negative IgG. Of course, if he's already IgG positive for Type 2, then there's your answer as well, but that requires him agreeing to test soon, and finding a doctor who will test him for IgG (since yours wouldn't).

If you're better, there's no need to take the meds. Save them for a recurrence instead.

Yea thought I'd get in there straight away. He's ok with it and said as long as we are both physically ok then it fine and worse things could have happened. He's going to sort out getting blood test tomorrow - hopefully he will be able to get that done. Then we need to figure out how to continue having sex including oral. Any recommendations on that? One of the first things he asked.

Really impressed with how well he has actually taken it especially as we aren't officially in a relationship.

I'm still going to see if I can get an blood test I have private medical insurance with work so might try trough that.

Actually impressed with how positive that I am with the whole thing. I cried today but mainly at relief that he took it so well. I've told my mum who his strange cause even though I'll be 29in a few weeks we have never spoke about sex.

I will not let this take over my life. Hopefully I never have out outbreak again but if I do I guess I'll just deal with it when it comes.

I looked at diet and I'll make sure I try and eat healthier. I have got some vitamins to boost my immune system. Feeling positive. 😊

      Thanks for all your help
