I think may have Is..

hey there I'm 43 and have been suffering from extreme fatigue, aches and pains, weight gain and fogginess  for months now. I also got itching on my labia, around Christmas time. Eventually the chronic itch became a terribly painful sore which lingered for months.

I convinced myself it was herpes (despite having been in a faithful partnership for 20 years) and took myself to the sti  clinic. The Dr took a swab and gave me aclivcor high dose which I took. It didn't clear it but over time the sore became less sore and a month or so later I went to my gp who looked and thought it was a cut. She gave me steroid cream to clear it up. She also sent me for blood tests for my other symptoms.

The steroid cream cleared the sore for a while but it's now back with a vengeance and I am awake suffering this awful itch again, I so badly want to scratch.

My tsh blood test showed normal as did the diabetes and other tests, but I know there is something wrong. I feel twice my age.

having googled a bit I suspect ls but I can't see the area down below so can't visually confirm that.

Just looking for advice on what to do next really, help!

Thanks in advance

The next step would be to find a dermatologist and have a biopsy done, that can confirm a diagnosis

So sorry to hear you're going through this! As Linda says a dermatologist or a gynecologist can help you diagnose LS. Many doctors don't recognize LS.

Regarding the fatigue, weight gain and fogginess. That wouldn't be from LS but  look into Sleep Apnia or Underactive Thyroid (or both!). These are syptoms of both of those diseases. I had Hypothyroidism after all three of my children were born. It seemed to correct itself after I was on the meds for awhile but eventually the endocrinologist recommended I always stay on the meds.

Sleep apnea came later for me. Often snoring is an indicator if you have it. With sleep apnea your airway closes during sleep and you stop breathing. In my case I would dream I was drowning and I would wake up with a gasp and realize that I had stopped breathing. I now sleep with a CPAP, which keeps my airway open with air pressure.

The syptoms you describe could relate to both. My sister went undiagnosed with sleep apnea for years...she had no idea she had it. She didn't even realize she was waking up multiple times every hour. With sleep apnea you never get into a deep sleep. My sister was falling asleep driving before she finally was diagnosed.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Chacha,

Your aches, pain, fogginess and fatigue could be caused by fibromyalgia, which is also an autoimmune disease.  I have it, plus LS.  The 3 main food culprits in autoimmune diseases are wheat, dairy and sugar.  Try cutting them out and see how you feel.  As far as the itching goes, have you read any of the other threads on this site?  Baths with baking soda help a lot, plus coconut, emu or other oils.  You  haven't mentioned any white areas, but Alistar's borax treatments work well with them.  Not sure what you sore is though. Maybe others have experienced that and can give you some advice.

Aches and pains may be as simple as switching to non-flouride toothpaste/bottled water. (Worked for me in 3 days) The fatigue may change if you simply switch to sourdough bread.(Worked for me in 2 days). The fogginess may change if you simply switch to having 1 tbsp of jam or 1/2 cup of fruit with your first meal of the day and 1/2 - 1 cup of veg's with your last meal. (Worked for me in 1 day). The itchiness will change if you use a little nail scrub brush on your vulva (of course the kind where the bristles are too soft to clean nails and rinse after showering with 1tbsp baking soda per 1cup water. (Relief was instant).

will try toothpaste thing.  Would any type of toothpaste cause swelling in feet?  This is 1st. flare up in a yr.  Has to be stress, I begin to have a higher odor under arms when stressed also.  I do not want to use the ointment more than a little bit, it causes deteriation. I am still coating everything with vaseline at night and do attribute the coivering of everything to a better longivity.

It does not sound logical that toothpaste could cause swelling. It's such a small amount of flouride if your water isn't fluoridated (Europe has banned this). Feet can swell due to toxin build up (the feet release a surprising amount of body toxins). Soaking in Epson salts may work for you. I like to have my underarms waxed (ouch, I know), but I can go without deodorant. No smell. None. Zilch. You mentioned you haven't been diagnosed yet. You really should get a referral to a gynecologist or dermatologist. If for nothing at least for your peace of mind.
