I think my biopsy site is infected, can I put neosporin on it?

I don't know if it's infected or if it's just that stuff they put on it coming off but either way is it okay to use neosporin on it?

    I think so...but

    1. How many days since your biopsy?
    2. Has it swollen?
    3. Is it hot to the touch?
    4. Has it gotten red(er)?

I just had it on Tuesday , it is a little swollen and red still, not hot to the touch but a bit gooey.

But they put something on it which is still there so I think that might be the goo.

      Thanks for your reply

sounds like it is ok. id take a shower and rinse it well...just gently let the water was over it,. then put a good gob of either neosporin or vaseline on it. then be very gentle with it. seems to me mine was sorest on day 3/4.

i dont think the neosporin is nec, but dont think it will hurt anything.

you can NEOSPORIN on it, it might burn a little though, so go lightly. I used Emuaid after my biopsy ( 6 sites, all positive), and a moisture barrier with Vit D and ALOE after every trip to bathroom.

Hang in there, you are not alone.

Thank you, I think I will try a moisture barrier, it didn't sting at first but now it does...

    Does it hurt?

    Do you have fever?

Did they stitch it? I think they put a silver solution on it.

Polysporin, f necessary, is better. Have had several docs tell me many of us are allergic to neosporin.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

No stitches, no fever and yes they definitely put something on it and whatever it is it's coming off today and now I cannot pee without it burning so bad I think I'm going to pass out, next time I'm going to try peeing in the tub, omg luckily it only stings for a few minutes but it's bad.

      Thank you!

It can be bad, they don't tell you how to cope with these things and that really makes me mad. Suggest sitting on one or the other butt cheek. Put a dab of something over it BEFORE you pee. Dab gently instead of wiping... Do you take vitamin D or E?

Oh okay I will dab vaseline today, peeing in water in the tub works but it gross and not practical but it does work.

I've been taking vitamin D but not E

The whole mess is not something we, as patients, should have to fix ourselves. Doctors don't seem to know what to do which leaves us to do for ourselves. Women on this site will help however they can. I urge you to keep reading and searching....and don't give up. It has been 8 months since I learned something was wrong and I still cannot sit without pain but I THINK it is getting better. God help us.

So true! I still haven't even started using my medication because I have no idea how to use it, I got two sets of conflicting information about how long to use it and no info on where exactly to put it or how much to use.

I contacted my doctor, it's the weekend so still waiting to hear back...

So sorry about your pain, I hope it gets better and stays that way.
