I thought the same after my op and 5 months on I made an appointment with my consultant especially to ask about the problem. After examining me he explained that the anterior wall repairs don’t come right down to the entrance. The lump left there is called a urethrocele and he reassured me in my case that it didn’t need further treatment.

Is it bothering you or is it causing problems?

I was worried that it was an indication of the op having failed. But once he reassured me I’ve forgotten about it now. It’s not causing me any problems. Inter course is fine and I don’t tend to look too much myself. Lol - don’t think anyone is a pretty sight down there after childbirth!

Can you see your surgeon for advice? Hope this helps.

    Hi Jennifer

I thought exactly the same as you after my anterior and posterior repair (I had a vaginal hysterectomy too). I could still feel a bulge, looked like ridges!

However my consultant has reassured me I have no prolapses and, like Jean, it is an uretrocele. I do have slight stress incontinence so she is referring me for physiotherapy and I am working hard on pelvic floor exercises. I may have to have a sling but it will be up to me.

I had my surgery ten months ago, internally the healing process takes much longer than I'd anticipated.

I do hope it all works out for you. 😃

Sheila can you explain to me whst your surgeon told you about urethracele. Can they go back with pelvic floor exercises.. i did here on here before that they cant repair front wall right done as it affects the mechanics of the bladder and we would be incontinant. Is this what you wete told hunxx

The suture scars are lumpy bumpy. Maybe that's what you can see. Don't stress about it before you've been checked out. Mesh slings for pelvic floor repairs have been banned in my country recently (New Zealand). I had one Oct. 2016!! My Urogynae convinced me that the percentage of problems are only the same as any other where something foreign is put inside body, I think he said 2-5% may have a problem. Ugh. I'm super worried since it got banned here. I don't have any symptoms thank goodness. And my anterior repair and the sling fixed my prolapse and stress incontinence. Still have rectocoele but I don't think it's got any worse since fixing the rest.

Six and a half weeks vaginal hysterectomy/ rectocele repair (no mesh), and the vaginal opening still feels shut or closed. Swollen or stitches, maybe? Can't imagine even having sex in 14 to 16 weeks, as at this point, nothing is going in there. Anyone else have this?

I felt exactly the same, 'no entry'!

My consultant advised that it would be twelve weeks, at that stage it was still almost impossible. Sorry. 😳

It was about five months before things felt vaguely comfortable and I then had granulation at the vaginal vault.

It will get better, but it takes far longer than I thought.

      Good luck.

Hello ladies. I am 10 weeks post a an p repairs, TVT and sacrospinous fixation. Told by surgeon op was successful. I feel that I may have a urethrocele. I asked her about what is a slight ridged bulge at front entrance. It isn’t there on waking but comes when I stand up. It is not bulges out of the entrance. She assures me it is normal after childbirth and that area is too sesetive to repair. Is this what you all experienced. How are you all now .  I can’t stay worrying about it.
