I think my results are a false positive

I had my annual check up on August 28th. I asked for a complete workup just like always. Yesterday, I received a call advising I needed to come in for lab results. I went in today and was told I no longer have HPV, which I have had since I was a teenager, and now I have Herpes.  I've been tested several times that I can recall for herpes over the years and this is the first time I've tested positive for herpes. I've had no outbreaks and neither has my partner.  I have had another test for confirmation but I am wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar experience. Thanks!

HS1 & HS2. HS1 was in the 30's and HS2 was 9.0 something. I was so distraught I forgot to get the print out.

You were probably tested for IgG antibodies from the sounds of it, not IgM, but good to verify. If IgG, it does seem like you carry both, as those are both high values. If IgM, it doesn't mean much, as the test is not reliable for herpes.

If the HPV I've had for over 20 years hadn't just disappeared into thin air, I wouldn't think it's a false negative.  HPV doesn't just disappear and reappear in the form of herpes.

No, it doesn't. HPV is an entirely different virus requiring a different test to diagnose. It is unconnected to HSV.

I understand that Feliz but when you've had one disease for years and then you suddenly don't have it anymore and all of a sudden you have another disease that's enough for me to question all the results. Especially since this is a new doctor. Had the diagnosis been HPV plus Herpes then I could swallow that a little better. Something ain't right.

Then retest for HSV IgG using a different test kit or lab. If positive again at such high values, then there's your answer. How do you know you never had HSV before, by the way? Did you test for HSV IgG in the past? It's not common to be tested for that.

I am awaiting a second test result now.  Yes, I contracted Chlamydia in 2014 and was tested then for HSV 1 & 2 and the result was negative for both.  Also, the CDC does not recommend herpes testing for people without symptoms.  One reason: False Positive Results.

False positives only apply to IgM regardless of value, and low IgG values, not high ones.

Your IgG values are considered high.

I kinda had the same thing happen to me I had a sore that was not painful was told it was hsv2 the test came back neg the next month got a single sore and she retested it and it came back positive I have looked in to all of the blood works stuff and have come up with the term that it could possiable been shingle but I am waiting to get the western blot done I have been of my med for a month now and have not had any problem never had the symptom to begin with none at all

On or off your meds? Typo. If you never had any real symptoms and no negative partner, then there's no need to be on the daily meds. In fact, you should go off them at least a week or more before the western blot. WB needs to be done 4+ months from the encounter (or first occurrence) in question, just fyi.
