    Hi Virginia

My understanding is that you can still get pregnant whilst on esmyas it is not a contraceptive, although strangely it is the morning after pill in a 30mg dose. You would have to get confirmation from a doctor or could perhaps find out from the internet on that one. I suppose you are wondering if you are pregnant as not had a period. Mine came about a month after finishing, but that was after taking it for 3 months.   Did you have a two month gap after taking it for 3 months or have you been taking it continuous for 5 months with no break?     All the other symptoms can also be side effects due to esmya. The whitish discharge has been noted by some. Dizziness, tiredness etc ( better to take the tablet in the evening not morning is a way to help with tiredness I and others have found). If you have taken for 5 months without a break maybe your side effects are more pronounced, but everyone of course is different.  It might be worth finding out if you are pregnant with a test if you think you could be.

Hi shell69386. You mentioned of whitish discharge, is that from Esmya side effect? I thought it was a normal white discharge.. i had that same whitish thing maybe a week or 2 before my scheduled period.. thanks..

      Hi Suicra

My understanding is that it was a side effect of esmya and only happened whilst taking it (not at any other time) and only during one or two of the monthly cycles. Only lasted for about a week at the most. If this is a result of the fibroids breaking down it may vary from person to person as all have different amounts of fibroids. I think it can be around ovulation as well which is a couple of weeks before period.

Okay. Thanks for the info. I didn't know that this is a side effect. At least now, i will not wonder why i have this whitish discharge at some days.. hoping i won't have my period this month so that means Esmya did work.. thanks

Sorry to hear you feel so bad.

Oh you took a break then. Would you not take the tabs for a further three months before stopping then as you taken for another 2 months (pack 5) and stopped (packet 6 would be last of three months) , second course). Maybe the side effects have made you stop. Are you hoping that the tablets will reduce the size of your fibroids ? Sometimes it can take time to get results.

Hi, after my first course of Esmya I did not have any bleeding for 3 months, so you may be the same, also your symptoms could  easily be the fibroids. I don't think Esmya gives protection against pregnancy though. I hope you get some answers soon.

Sorry to hear your issues. With these kind of tablets there are always side effects. It can take up to 3 months to get a period after you stop taking the tablets, so don't worry if you do not have a period. Its not a good idea to be on Esyma for more than 6 months, it is usually recommended by some surgeons for 3 months prior to surgery to reduce the fibroids size supposedly to prevent excessive bleeding during the surgery.

Advice is changing on the continued use of Esmya, it's therapeutic indications now state it is for the intermittent treatment of fibroids, rather than just pre-operative use, which is why many gynaes are prescribing it for repeat courses. I am on my third.

Hi, after my first 3 months on eysma my

period took about 8 weeks to return. My

gynaecologist told me it would be very difficult if not impossible to get pregnant while on

    Eysma.

You have very similar symptoms to me. How many and how big are your fibroids? I have had 4 courses now and my gynaecologist wants me to go on them indefinitely til I am 51, a whole 5 years in total to stop the bleeding. Which would be a blessing, but my gp

refuses to prescribe as not licenced to be

    used more than 4 cycles

Because he says that is the average

age to go through the menopause and he is using esmaya to stop me bleeding as hadn't worked to shrink my fibroid, which is now 12x13x11 and . He had told me it is too risky to do a hysterectomy. GP not happy ad says not enough known about side effects and ad she would be responsible I anything went wrong won't give me any. Now have to wait til end of June to go back to hospital and that's requesting an earlier appt. How are you coping

I'm OK still taking Esmya, and also taking ACV, not sure if that's having any effect but anyway I'm not bleeding and the size of the fibroids seems a little less but they're still very much there 😒. I'm way past menopause and as soon as I stop taking Esmya (well after 2-3 months) the fibroids start to grow again and the bleeding starts. That's why I asked about the age. I believe if you have large fibroids they prevent menopause occurring naturally, I only have menopausal symptoms when on Esmya, never before, and I'm 58!
