I'm having a problem straightening my knee, so have to massage for 15 mins, then exercise, ice and heat etc.   Talking with a friend today I said I only had the one front xray for both legs, they didn't do a side bend like I  had done on my left knee. SO how do they expect your leg to be stright if it wasn't?   I have had my 6 sessions of physio, first was taking down all my details and showing me what exercises to do.   Next session, showing more exercises and talking; the following sessions massaging my leg because of fluid and doing deep tissue massage, last session measuring the bend, measuring the straightening which was improving and letting me know the sessions had finished.   The whole physio thing was not up to my expectations.   Maybe the NHS are saving money as the sessions only lasted 15 mins.  When I had my left knee done 8 years ago I had to work on weights and bike, but not this time.  I am 13 weeks PO, been out today          walking, slowly around a dolls house fair so talking to stand holders and visitors all the time.  I normally sell at these events but this proved to me I am not yet fit enough as my leg is now so stiff, took 2 paracetamols coming home in the car, hubby driving, and I went to sleep and  I don't sleep during the day normally.

Seeing the cunsultant on Wed so hopefully  he will just let me continue with massage etc as I don't want to have another op to straighten leg.

After making reasonable progress I went really stiff at eleven weeks for about three weeks. I have gone back to one ibrobrufen and one co codamol three times a day, massaging and swimming twice a week. It has been brilliant this week 17 so just hang on in and keep hydrated. Yesterday and today just took tablet morning and night - knee starting to feel almost normal fingers crossed! Can't believe how much improved in three weeks think it's the muscles getting stronger though still weak. Good luck

This is so worrying - I feel for you. My (new) consultant said I'd have to work harder with a revision to get the best out of it, yet couldn't promise a better bend, just less stiffness, which he believes causes pain. This is a long road we have gone down, looks like we'll be going down it for ages yet! Goodness knows when I'll get the revision surgery date through. I went to a party last night, the settees were too low, the bar stools too high, so I leant on the settee arm & I couldn't stop my feet tapping to the rock & roll band! I kept telling myself to keep that blessed leg still as it hurt, sort of vibrated through the leg, but no matter how hard I tried (I spent my working life as a vocalist with many bands) the operated foot had a life of its own! Today it is killing me.......!!

sorry i didnt mean to worry you when you have to have one ,i hope you will be back with the bands sooner rather then later ,i know what you are saying about high stools and low seats it used to drive me mad too ,

well back from physio and ive over done things physio recons 90% of patients he has to kick butt to do excersises and 10%he has to reel inas they do to much and yes im in that 10% so ive over worked the muscle my hamstrinng and other muscles there are 3 together that wrap down around the knee on the inside of thigh ,it resulted in making the knee very painfull so that told me moderation its a matathon not a sprint  so anyone who has pain when they feel they shouldnt maybe your over doing it like me

Are you still going to physio after 9 months? That seems a very long time to me?
