I've awarded myself a gold star

I'm 9 days out from L THR and today I managed to put my socks on (loose socks and using the grabber) AND managed to wash my own hair at the kitchen sink!

Very pleased with how things are going. Hip and thigh are still swollen but pain isn't bad at all and I've taken nothing but ibuprofen and paracetamol for 3 or 4 days now. I'm using one crutch indoors and can walk without anything as long as I'm careful and have furniture to grab if necessary.

Slightly overdid the exercises yesterday I think so taking it easier today.

I know we are all different and don't heal at the same rate. I imagine there will be further twists in the road but at the moment I'm so grateful for modern medicine that can help with OA pain and give us a new lease of life.

Well done Jenny ! I remember when I could finally shower and shampoo on my own and it really does help to build up your confidence to try to get back to living your life the way it used to be. These small steps all add up at the end of the day.

Well deserved Gold Star - you have done very well, and I bet you feel really good about your achievements.  Good for you.

Yes, there may be twists and turns on the road to recovery, but you have made a good, very positive start.

    Best wishes

Great stuff! I'm going in on Monday for my LTHR. Hoping and expecting the same outcome.

Thank you Erin! I'm not going to lie, the first few days were a challenge but if you go into it with a really positive attitude and be prepared to accept help where you need it, you'll be fine.

Lots of luck for Monday. New pain free life on its way! xx

When I was born, non of this existed...now I have enough hardware to build a small ship!
