I've been depressed about this for a long time now, uneven foreskin when pulled back

I'm 19 and soon to be sexually active and haven't had any serious problems or worries with my genital area. However over the years I've always noticed an unevenness of my foreskin, it feels as if one side is tighter than the other and has really bothered me. It doesn't cause pain, however when erect one side of my foreskin is noticeably looser and there is slight redness on the side of the glans. Does anybody know why this is. I've attached an image and as you can see the frenulum on the left side hasn't fully detached from the head so that may be causing it? I'm clueless on if this is normal or not but also unsure if its much of a problem to go see a doctor.

It is quite remarkable that most young men develop past the point of what is often referred to as puberty with a foreskin that looks and functions the way that yours is now. For many men across the world they go through their entire life without being able to expose the head of the penis due to phimosis or other foreskin complications.
In comparison to these extremes you have 2 relatively simple issues that you can correct: the tightness you feel in one side of your foreskin, and the redness in the area of the underside of your glans.
To address the tightness the only realistic thing you can do is stretch the foreskin on a regular basis to build in greater suppleness and elasticity, and hopefully this will even up the tightness you feel. The best time to do stretches is when you take a warm shower - there are 2 simple stretches I would suggest, with the foreskin completely covering the head of your penis grasp the loose skin and draw it forwards as far as you comfortably can, then release. It is probably easier to do that one when you are not erect. The other you can do when erect or flaccid - try both states and see which seems best: draw all the loose skin of the shaft of the penis downwards towards the body and hold the penis at the base - you should then feel a stretch in the foreskin and perhaps in the head of your penis. Both stretches you should see as similar to a gym excercise: you start real easy, then after 3 or 4 weeks you start the process of building on the number of stretches you do - so you start by holding the stretch for 5 or 6 seconds then release. Repeat 6 or 8 times. Then you build in a longer hold and greater repetitions over a series of months.
With the redness what your skin is reacting to is something that is causing it irritation, this is most likely something that the skin in that area is in regular contact with and this can be something as simple as soap or shower gel or other bodily cleanser. Try and get in the habit of only washing the exposed head of the penis with water only.
When you take a shower draw the foreskin forward to protect the sensitive skin of the head of the penis. Then once you have washed and fully rinsed everywhere else on your body, expose the entire head of your penis and carefully wash the head and foreskin with the water only rubbing both gently with your inner hand. The second essential is that you completely and carefully dry the entire head and exposed foreskin area as soon as you get out of the shower.
The other common source of irritation is lubes used for masturbation, or perhaps skin creams used to hydrate the skin of the penis and head / foreskin area - the sensitive skin in the head / foreskin area can eventually become intolerant to this. So, you could have this going on, particularly if you apply anything then cover the head of the penis with your foreskin trapping skin cream, lubes or whatever, thus extending harmful contact with chemicals that these items are based on. You may simply have not been drying the head area of your penis, and again, moisture becomes trapped and eventually this becomes an irritant.

Hey, thanks for replying.
I have started to consistently do skin stretches and the tightness has already gone down which is great. I have also decided to stop masturbating for now so that the redness can go down and I am taking your advice of being more careful with shower gels when cleaning the penis. I am also drying the head properly to reduce irritation, your advice has been great help so far and I will continue this routine in hope of resolving the problem.
Regarding the frenulum, is it normal to have one side attached to the head and the other side not attached? That is the only concern I still have as am unsure of how to treat it. That is the main cause of the unevenness when the foreskin is pulled back and its even more noticeable when erect.

In terms of the frenulum, it is certainly not meant to be that way. So, it could have developed / grown that way, or can be due to forceful pressure, perhaps in drawing the skin of the shaft of penis downwards towards the base too forcefully?
Can you remember when you were first able to expose the entire head of your penis? What age would you be then ...... ?

I was around 11 years old when that was possible, I don't recall applying force to the skin of the shaft as well. The head should not have the frenulum attached to it, correct? Because that is the problem I have here I think.

Incorrect, the frenulum you have in the photo is as it should be .....
I think I see what you are getting at, in looking at the central 'vein' type structure of the frenulum there is more 'webbed' skin on one side leading onto the head itself, compared to what there is on the other. Unfortunately, the way the frenulum often develops is not always mirrored on one side to the other, and is often not completely comparable on the other, you merely have one variation. Some men may have a mirror image on each side, you merely do not, this is quite normal however.

Ah that makes more sense then, I had been confused whether or not it hadn't detached properly through puberty. Thank you for your advice and guidance on this matter, it has given me some needed clarity and better understanding of this whole situation. The only concern I have is when erect, one side is much more looser than the other causing friction on the tighter side, do you advise seeing my doctor about it, or would that be unnecessary?

I think if you went to a Doctor or even a Urologist they may say to get circumcised, the reason for this is that if they directed you to do stretches and you tore your frenulum they could be open to legal responsibility for 'telling' you to do this.
Any potential surgery to try and correct this also has the potential to cause unintended side effects - so that is not worth looking at, I would suggest.
So, I have mentioned about the stretches, and the requirement to take it real easy when you do these, there is a web site page that may make more sense to you once you see the pictures of what this involves.
I cannot post external web links on here so here are the search terms to look for:
