I'm 25, from Malaysia. this is my symtoms:

tinnitus, insomnia, nightmare, depressed, trust issues

I can't sleep for almost 7 months, the only way to fall asleep is to drink a lot of alcohol. Since my girlfriend cut off my alcohol, its almost impossible for me to fall asleep. When i sleep i get nightmare i cant even remember.

Im not suicidal anymore, im not stressed, I'm financially stable, currently in a relationship, but i just couldnt find the reason to live.

The only thing i want is to fall asleep now, no nightmare, but i cant, i cant live like this.

    Hey brother,

Ok first you need to fix your depression. You will not sleep when depressed, the negative thoughts make it impossible for you too sleep. I'd say see a doctor but medication sometimes isn't the answer. Positivity and a better lifestyle is your smartest choice. If your depression is bad, then yes certainly go to a doctor and ask for a mild antidepressant. But do not take sleep medication! This will further disrupt your sleep in the long run.

Stay off the alcohol, your girlfriend is right to cut you off. Like you said, your financially stable and in a relationship. Always remember it could be worse. When I was at my worst point of no sleep I was in a crappy paid job, single and living with my parents in England where the weather is crap all the time. I made it and so can you.

Stay positive, go to the gym and exercise, eat good and research sleep hygiene. It may sound stupid at first but in time it helps.

Take care my friend, if you need anything else feel free to PM me.

      Thanks Lee

Thanks for your advice, yes I'm taking sleeping pill, and I'll stop taking it. I think i will start going to gym tomorrow and start eating healthy first, if it doesnt get better in a week i'll go see a psychiatrist.

Yeah get off the sleep medication asap, it obviously isn't working so not much point in taking it, right? Work on cardio at the gym or go running, only stop when you feel like you have done as much as you can. The more often you do it your resting heart beat will reduce which is not only good for you but it will make it easier to relax.

Avoid junk food, you don't need to punish yourself by only eating salads and fruit all the time but don't eat pizzas/cheeseburgers/chocolate on a daily basis. Start drinking more water too, there are so many health benefits from drinking water instead of soda and juices. Also research tryptophan. Some foods contain a lot of it (nuts for example) and it is what produces natural melatonin in your body. Basically it improves sleep quality. Bit too much for me to explain so this is why I suggest you google it.

Also remember that your problems won't go away overnight or even a week. It may take a month or so before you see a difference but I can't stress enough that you must stick at it. Depression is a bitch to put it in simple terms, I went through it once and it lasted maybe 6 months even while on medication. This is why I think it is best to avoid taking drugs and please stay away from alcohol, it is a plague on this planet.

If you have done all of the above a see no improvement after say 6 weeks only then go to a doctor because they will keep you on antidepressants for a long time.

      Take it easy man,

      Lee.

      Hi Lee,

The sleeping pills work, i usually fall asleep in 10-15 minutes, but i get nightmare and will feel really tired the next morning, sometime headache, i had to drink a lot of coffee and smoke a lot to keep me straight. I'll try to get asleep now without the pills. Thank again Lee.

Good man. Just out of interest, what pills have you been taking? Some aren't that bad in moderation but in general they are bad news. Focus on the other stuff I mentioned and I'm sure you will start to see a difference in time.

      Stay positive buddy.
